Tiger Varsity Cheerleaders Bring
Home First Place Cheer Trophy

Ardmore High School’s Varsity Cheerleading squad added another feather to its already crowded cap last week, taking first place in the “Cheer Competition,” held at the annual UCA Summer Camp in Tuscaloosa. In addition, the squad took third place in the “Extreme Routine” competition and placed fourth in Pom Pom.

“I am proud of the girls and what they accomplished,” said Cheerleading Sponsor Dana Clem. “This was probably the most competitive camp we have ever been to. There were over 25 talented varsity cheerleading squads at the UCA camp.”

The 2006-2007 Varsity Cheerleading Squad is carrying on a long established tradition of excellence. Most recently, the 2005-2006 squad took home another first place trophy at the Smokey Mountain Spring Spectacular.

The event, which featured 25 school cheerleading squads, was held in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

The squad captured First Place in the Medium Varsity Division, competing against schools of a similar size as Ardmore. The squad performed several impressive routines plus tumbling, dances and group stunts.

Ardmore’s biggest honor, however, was yet to come.

At the end of the awards ceremony, the announcement came that Ardmore had won honors as Grand Champions, earning the highest score of any squad entered in the competition.

Ardmore High School’s new Varsity Cheerleading Squad is a talented group of girls, dedicated to excellence, hard work, and putting on the best performance possible.
