Tiger Spirit Camp A Big Success

Exciting sounds of Tiger cheers and dance music was heard drifting from the gym at Ardmore High School this week as girls between the ages of five-years-old and sixth grade took part in an exciting and educational cheerleading program.

Beginning last Monday, AHS hosted its 10th Annual Spirit Camp. The cheerleading camp, which lasted through Thursday, June 29, had 59 girls in attendance.

“We had a great turnout this year,” said AHS Cheerleading Sponsor Dana Clem. “Those who participated worked hard, learned a lot, and improved their skills in many areas. I want to express my appreciation to the parents, friends, and especially to the Varsity Cheerleaders for all of their hard work and support.”

The camp concluded last Thursday with a special performance for the parents, family, and friends of those in attendance.

The camp is being led by AHS Cheerleading Sponsor Dana Clem and the AHS Varsity Cheerleading Squad. In addition to the fundamentals of cheerleading and various routines, the Tiger Cheerleading Squad taught the routines and cheers learned at the UCA Camp, recently held in Tuscaloosa. AHS cheerleaders brought home the First Place Trophy in the Cheer Competition, took third place in Extreme Routine and fourth place in Pom Pom.

“Once again, we would like to thank everyone involved in this year’s Spirit Camp,” said Clem. “We especially appreciate everyone letting their daughters come and cheer with us. I think it helps a lot.”
