Three RedHawk Players Garner
All-Conference Honors

Three starting players from Martin Methodist College’s Baseball Team, Jesse Thornton, Alan Lindsey and Courtney English, were recently named to the TranSouth Athletic Conference All-Conference.

Thornton and Lindsey are seniors and English just completed his junior year.

Thornton made first-team honors by hitting .378 on the season and compiling a .988 fielding percentage. The outfielder committed only two errors in 316 chances. In addition, Thornton belted nine homers and drove in 45 runs.

English and Lindsey were second team selections. English batted .392 and led the RedHawks with 10 homeruns. Lindsey hit .329 and drove in 41 runs.

Martin Methodist’s baseball team also led the TranSouth Conference in the placement of Scholar Athletes in the TranSouth Scholar Athletes Program.

Taylor Bates, Michael Boatwright, Derek Glover, Joey Greany, Hohn Mathison, Dale Pierce, Devin Rocha, Matt Sakowicz, along with Lindsey and Thornton made the 35-player list.

Ardmore’s own P.J. Roper would have been on the list had he been eligible. The Scholar Athletes Program is only open to sophomores, juniors and seniors. Roper recently completed his freshman year at Martin Methodist College.
