Area cycling buffs will have the opportunity to participate in a great ride, while, at the same time, contributing to a worthy cause as the Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives will host a Poker Ride on July 8.

The ride will begin at 10 AM at the Alabama Veterans Museum on Pryor Street in Athens. The first bike will go out at 10 AM and the last bike will leave at 2 PM. The last bike in will be at 5 PM.

Prizes will be awarded as follows: First Place, $200; Second Place, $100; third place, $50. Registration fee is $15 per card.

The Poker Ride is also sponsored by Jimmy Smith Pontiac, Calvin’s Cleaners and Catfish Inn. Printing needs were supplied by Sundry Printing Company.

Proceeds garnered from the ride go to support the Alabama Veterans Museum and Archives.
