This week’s Passing Parade is a picture of Ken Hereford and his sister, Pat Hereford Webb. They are in the Stewart Cemetery for the DAR program for their mother, Nell Gray Hereford, who got her DAR from the service of Revolutionary War Veteran Philip Koonce.

People came from different directions including the Douglas family of Kelso and Cat Douthit who wrote the Cyruston Community News for the old Fayetteville Observer. There were Leland and Hilda Gray and Brenda Cole, Lucile Haney Ingle, and Bob Allen Gray with some ladies from Ardmore, TN.

Pat Hereford Webb gave the biography of Nell Gray Hereford. Bob Allen Gray gave the biography of Philip Koonce.

Passing Parade

Both Ken Hereford and Pat Webb are descended from Rev. Jacob Gray, a Civil War veteran. He preached at Liberty Baptist Church of Christ and Prospect Baptist Church of Christ. In 1994 they tore down the Baptist Church and moved to the farm of Oliver Perry Gray on Gray Lane where a barn was built from the logs. It is now owned by Pat Hereford Webb. There were three wagon loads of logs from this Baptist Church. A young boy, nine-year-old Riley Gray, drove one of the three wagons. The Jess McDougal family attended and records show that Jess McDougal attended the church services at Prospect led by Jacob Gray.
