July 12 was the last date of the 2006 Summer Reading Program, “Jungle Tales,” for Ardmore Public Library. The library would like to thank board member, Joshilyn Tucker, for reading, singing, and doing a craft with the children ages 12 and under. She is a lifesaver. Everyone received icees after the program compliments of our many sponsors. The summer reading participants that read books during the program received prizes (books, toys, and school supplies) chosen from Dollar General Market with a total value of over $5 for each child along with cookies and crackers from Frito-Lay of Pulaski, and pink bags for the girls from Lauren Schrimsher. The top reader, Evan Buck chose a $25 gift certificate to Books-A-Million donated by Susan Collins while the remaining four winners Abigail Fritts, Sarah Fritts, Erika Van Etta, and Tori Buck, were given a choice of tickets for two from The Tennessee Aquarium, Nashville Zoo (2 sets), and Lake Winnepesaukah compliments of each establishment. Thanks to all that helped in any way with the 2006 Summer Reading Program this year. Monetary sponsors for the presenters were Ardmore City, Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home, Ardmore Town, Audio Enhancers, Butler Realty, Civitan Club of Ardmore, First American Bank, First National Bank, and weekly coupons contributors, Movie Gallery, Pizza Inn, and Southern Adventures. We can never forget to thank Your Community Shopper for the wonderful coverage that they extend to us in the paper each year. Without them we would be lost at showing you the progress of the program and who makes up the programs. Thanks to our weekly readers Mary Cribbs, Kim Owen, Maalac Steele, Joshilyn Tucker and our presenters. Thanks to our volunteers Chanda Easterwood, Freda Daly, Haley Schrimsher, Michelle Richardson, Sandra Steadman, and Sean Collins. Also thanks always to the Library Staff, Library Board, and Library Supporters. Sorry to see the 2006 Summer Reading Program gone, but it is now time to start preparing for Story Time for Preschoolers on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. starting on September 6. All area preschoolers are welcome to come and join in. Correction on the time for the Ardmore Public Library Board Meeting, it will be on Wednesday, July 19, at 4:00 p.m. |
