Athens-Limestone Hospital’s
Philip Dotson Receives Award

Philip E. Dotson, CHE, CEO of Athens-Limestone Hospital, Athens, was given the Regent’s Award for the Senior Healthcare Executive at the American College of Healthcare Executives’ breakfast. The breakfast was held in conjunction with the Alabama Hospital Association’s Annual meeting in June.

Dotson was praised for his dedication to the field of hospital administration and his participation in the American College of Healthcare Executives, as well as his service with other healthcare organizations. He was recognized for his ability to use his calm demeanor and keen insight to help fellow hospital administrators deal with tough challenges.

Michael Horsley, CHE former Regent and president of the Alabama Hospital Association presented the award to Dotson thanking him not only for his service to ACHE, but to the Alabama Hospital Association. Dotson has chaired numerous committees, served on the board and been chairman of the board of the statewide Alabama Hospital Association.

Philip Dotson has been a healthcare executive for almost 40 years, serving as CEO at Athens-Limestone Hospital since 1987. He is currently a member of the American Hospital Association’s Task Force on Delivery System Fragmentation and on the board for the Athens-Limestone County Development Association. He was named Business Person of the Year in 2005, and his hospital was awarded the AlaHA Community Service Award in 2000. He is a Certified Healthcare Executive in the American College of Healthcare Executives, and he is a member of the Alabama Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

In addition to the ACHE Award, Dotson was also honored at the annual meeting with an Alabama Hospital Association Distinguished Service Award.
