Area Softball Team Scorpion Fire Places 5th In World Series Tournament

The 16U Tennessee Scorpion Fire Fastpitch Softball Team recently returned from participating in the “B” World Series Tournament held July 10-15, 2006, in Panama City Beach, FL. The Tennessee Scorpion Fire team includes five girls from Giles County High School, five girls from Richland High School and one girl from Hixson High School. The team finished fifth in the 2006 World Series tournament.

Scorpion Fire went undefeated in seven games allowing only four runs while scoring 37 runs until they reached the Top8 Gold Bracket on Saturday, July 15. On Saturday morning they played the Alabama Whippets team (who in turn won the 16U championship) losing 3-0 and lost in a close one to the Arkansas Ozark Rebels 5-4.

Prior to the World Series, the Tennessee Scorpion finished third place in the USFA State Tournament held in Gallatin, TN. Kinsley Toone was selected to the USFA 16U All Tournament Team.
