Rodeo Set This Weekend

Get our your boots and cowboy hat and get ready for a weekend of rodeo fun in Ardmore. The Ardmore Police Reserves 14th Annual Pro Rodeo will be held at John Barnes Park Friday and Saturday, August 11-12. Activities will begin at 8 p.m. both nights. Gates will open at 5:30 p.m.

To kick-off the rodeo activities, the Ardmore Police Reserves will hold a Rodeo Parade on Thursday, August 10, beginning at 5:30 PM. Grand Marshals for the parade will be residents of SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation for Ardmore.

Sponsors include Pepsi, Athens Bonding Co., Pizza Hut Italian Bistro and Preston’s Western Wear. Calvin’s Cleaners has donated shirts for the rodeo workers.

This year’s rodeo promises to be the best ever and includes something for everyone. After a spectacular grand entry, events will include bareback riding, calf roping, barrel racing, cowgirls goat tying, team roping and bull riding. Rodeo clowns will help to make this year’s rodeo lots of fun. The rodeo is sanctioned by the Dixie Rodeo Association and will feature some of the top cowboys and cowgirls from throughout the Southeast. Several prominent local cowboys will also be included.

Ticket holders on Saturday evening will be included in a drawing for a filly colt purchased from Albert Pressnell. Donations of $3 or $5 are also being accepted for a saddle donated by Adams Western Wear. The winner of the saddle may choose between a youth or adult saddle.

Advance rodeo tickets are now on sale at several locations in Ardmore including Adams Western Wear, Chevron, Clark’s Feed, Daly & Son Pure Station, First American Bank, First National Bank, Peoples State Bank, Tennessee City Hall and True Discount. Tickets are also available at Preston’s Western Wear in Athens, Roy & Roger Western Wear in Fayetteville, and Saddle Rack in Elkmont. Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children ages 6-12. Tickets at the gate will be $12 for adults and $10 for children 6-12.
