New Police Car Is On The Way To Elkton, TN
Meeting in regular session Thursday, August 10, the Elkton Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted unanimously to lease a brand new Dodge Charger with the option to own for the Elkton Police Department.


Limestone School Board Revises Cell Phone Policy
The Limestone County School Board is looking at revising its policy concerning the use of cell phones. Following the lead of neighboring school systems, the policy will allow students and teachers to have cell phones but use them only in emergency situations before or after school. The board was in agreement the policy is in place for those involved in extracurricular activities after school.


Educational Volunteers Are Needed At Cedar Hill Elementary School
Educational volunteers are needed at Cedar Hill Elementary School to participate in school programs. Cedar Hill Elementary is beginning its second year as an ARI (Alabama Reading Initiative) school. An organizational meeting for this year’s volunteers will be held Monday, August 21, at 5 p.m.


Lions Club Installs New Officers
New officers of the Ardmore Lions Club were recently inducted by District Governor of Lions International Dan Arliss. The 2006-2007 President is Mike Magnusson. Other officers include Joe Douthit, treasurer; Jim Keith, secretary; Glen Coffman, tail twister; and Diane Fowler, public relations. The District Governor also inducted new members, Louise and Glen Coffman and Diane Fowler.


Registration Open For Boys And Girls Club
Registration for the fall program at the Ardmore Boys and Girls Club is now open for students. The Boys and Girls Club fall program is open to children from kindergarten through ninth grade, according to Director Robin Hargrove.



Ardmore Masonic Lodge/Pizza Hut To Host Fast-Pitch Tournament
Area softball fans are in for a treat in August as the Ardmore Masonic Lodge and Pizza Hut Italian Bistro team up to host a men's fast-pitch softball tournament. The tournament, which has attracted teams from as far away as Montgomery, will take place at John Barnes Park on August 18 and August 19. Action will begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday. Games will begin at 8:00 a.m. Saturday.


Blanche Lady Bulldogs Open Volleyball Season With A Win
Blanche School Lady Bulldog volleyball team opened their season August 7, against Stone Bridge Academy. Playing the best two out of three for the match, the Lady Bulldogs made a strong showing. They won in two straight games. In the first game of the series Blanche won 25 to SBA's 8. In the second game, Blanche scored 25 and SBA 9 points. The Lady Bulldogs used good serving and sound defense in their win over SBA.


Elkmont Band BBQ Supper And Kick-Off Rally Tickets On Sale Now
Tickets are now available from any Elkmont High School band student for a Barbecue Supper and band performance. The fund raising event will be Friday, August 18, at the school football stadium.


MTSU Football Tickets On Sale Now For University Of Louisville Game At LP Field
Tickets for the 2006 Middle Tennessee State University vs. University of Louisville game, hosted by the Nashville Sports Council, will go on sale to the general public Tuesday, Aug. 15 at 10 a.m.


Elkmont High School Forming Alumni Band
An Elkmont High School Alumni Band is now forming. The alumni band is open to all former band members, majorettes, drum majors, danceline and color guard members. The alumni band will be performing at the Elkmont Homecoming game on Friday, September 29.

Well fans, it is mid-August and it is that time of the year when the Major League pennant races get serious. August and September are the most exciting months of the regular season for baseball fanatics and this year is proving to be quite a thrill.
