Leona "Aunt Sis" Dixon Butler

Leona "Aunt Sis" Dixon Butler, 87, of Main Street, Ardmore, TN, died Tuesday, August 8, 2006, at Crestwood Medical Center, Huntsville, AL.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 11, at 11 a.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sammy Brister officiating. Burial was in the Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore, AL with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.

Leona was born September 26, 1918 in Madison County, AL, to Mathew Dixon and Callie Parker Dixon. She lived all her life in this area. She was a member of Ardmore First Baptist Church and a member of the Red Hat Society Sapphires Chapter. She was preceded in death by husbands, Derrel Butler and Robert Thomas; a sister, Evelyn Daly; and brothers, Rufus, A.D., Noah, Cleo and Buford Dixon.

Survivors include two sisters, Kathryn Rozell of Pulaski, TN and Dorothy Wilburn of Ardmore, AL; and a special family of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Pallbearers were Terry Rozell, Timmy Swinford, Andy Swinford, Sandy Hardiman, Elliott Wells, Sam Reyer and Jim Steele.


James Lonnie Drummond

James Lonnie Drummond, 87, of 3rd Avenue East, Ardmore, AL, formerly of Hanceville, AL, died Friday, August 11, 2006, at his home.

Funeral services were held Sunday, August 13, at 1:00 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sammy Brister and Rev. Billy Taylor officiating. Burial was in the Shelton Grove Church Cemetery in Cullman County, AL.

James Lonnie Drummond was born February 27, 1919, in Cullman County, AL, to Hubert Drummond and Catherine Harbison Drummond. He lived in Ardmore for approximately 14 years after coming from Hanceville. He was a member of Ardmore First Baptist Church, an Army veteran of WWII where he fought in eight major battles and received a silver star and three bronze stars, along with Distinguished Citations and other awards. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Herman, Dillard and Max Drummond; and a half brother, Larue Drummond.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Jackson Drummond of Ardmore, AL; one son, Phillip Drummond of Ardmore, AL; a half brother, Billy Ray (Blanca) Drummond of Ecuador, South America; sister-in-law, Edith Drummond (T.J.) Pate of Bremen, AL; nieces, Shirley (David) Via of Indiana, Janet (Royce) Jean of Cullman County, AL, Marcia (Kevin) Tillman of Cullman County, AL; nephews, Maurice (Carolyn) Drummond of Cullman County, AL, and James Drummond of Cullman County, AL; and several great nieces and great nephews.


Frances Puckett Thomason

Frances Puckett Thomason, 65, of Lewisburg, TN, died Thursday, August 3, 2006, at Centennial Hospital in Nashville, TN.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 5, in the chapel of the Bills-Gaugh Funeral Home with Tom Sumners officiating. Burial was in the Blanche Cemetery with Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home in charge.

She was the daughter of the late A.U. Puckett Jr. and Virginia Sue Henderson Puckett. She was a graduate of Draughon's Business College, a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Max Wayne Thomason; her daughter, Sharon Ladyman of Santa Fe; a grandson, Brian Daniel (Destiny) Hazlett of Santa Fe; great-grandchildren, Hailey Hazlett and Austin Hazlett; sisters, Peggy Bryant of Coldwater, TN and Patsy Parks of Kelly's Creek Community; a brother, Dwight Puckett of Nashville.

Pallbearers were Steve Jones, Jason Lee, Ronnie Lawrence, Rodney Paul, Lonnie Bryant and Ryne Knuckles.
