Ardmore Masonic Lodge/Pizza Hut by Dwight Turner Area softball fans are in for a treat in August as the Ardmore Masonic Lodge and Pizza Hut Italian Bistro team up to host a men's fast-pitch softball tournament. The tournament, which has attracted teams from as far away as Montgomery, will take place at John Barnes Park on August 18 and August 19. Action will begin at 7:00 p.m. Friday. Games will begin at 8:00 a.m. Saturday. All proceeds from the tourney go to support the scholarship fund of the Ardmore Masonic Lodge, as well as other local charities supported by the lodge. Each year, the Ardmore Masonic Lodge awards a scholarship to a deserving Ardmore High School senior. According to Troy Reed of the Ardmore Masonic Lodge, the tournament will involve a team from Montgomery, a team from Nashville, a team from Athens, and three teams from Ardmore. There will be a $3 admission charge to the tournament with children five and under admitted free. Families will be admitted for $10.00 per family. Concessions will be available including Sonic burgers and Pizza Hut pizza. Proceeds from admission charges and concessions will also go to area charities. Local residents are encouraged to turn out and support this much-needed charitable event. The Ardmore Masonic Lodge is most often quiet about its many charitable donations, preferring to remain anonymous in their community activities. The softball tournament provides an opportunity for local residents to watch great softball action, while, at the same time, giving support to the charities of the Ardmore Masonic Lodge. Pizza Hut Italian Bistro has also been active in support of local community projects and the Ardmore Masonic Lodge wishes to express its appreciation to Pizza Hut for its contributions to the tournament. |
