Tiger Fans Get Sneak Peek This Weekend

The Ardmore Tigers will give their fans what they have been waiting for Friday night when they travel to Florence to face the Wilson Warriors in a scrimmage game.

Kickoff is at 7 p.m. The price of admission is $6.

The Warriors completed their 2005 season with a 4-6 record. Like the Tigers they compete in Class 4A.

Coach Tracy Malone will make his coaching debut with the Tigers on Friday. Malone will bring with him an energized football team that is expected to be stronger and more experienced. There are 17 returning starters from last year’s team that did not taste victory but lost five of those games by a touchdown or less.

Seniors on the Tiger team include: J. J. Jones, Jonathan Keenum, Will Lewis, Bubba Lobberecht, Jarrod Mullins, Keith Rahm, Duron Robinson, Jared Robison, Kyle Smith, Jake Stagner, Randy Toone, Travis Toone, Luke Tunstill, and Nick Wray.

According to Wilson High School officials the school will not be very difficult to find. Take Hwy 72 into Florence, turn right on Cox Creek Parkway. Take a right on Highway 17 and the school will be six miles on the left.

The Tigers will host Elkmont in the season opener one week later.

A jamboree will be held Saturday at Cooper field featuring four non-varsity teams. The Ardmore Junior High team will face the Athens freshman squad at 10 a.m. Middle school teams from Elkmont and Clements will square off in the second full game of the day at noon.

Admission to Saturday’s jamboree is $3 per person.
