We have had some rain but more would be appreciated. Hasn’t this summer been hot, too?

Not much has been happening that I’ve heard about. Robert did report seeing 14 turkeys (3 or 4 being adults) pass through the garden. They didn’t stop to sample the tomatoes or damage any of the other garden plants.

The Oak Grove Homemakers Club met third Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at the clubhouse with nine members present. President Jeanette Davis called the meeting to order with the thought “Minds are like a television, when they go blank it is best to turn off the sound.”

Joyce Shawn led in the devotional using Psalms 50:15 with the thought “self-sufficient”. The ladies read the Homemakers Creed in unison, followed by the pledge to the U. S. Flag. Roll call and July minutes were read by Secretary Mary Ann Jacobs. The treasurer’s report was given by Clara Bumpus.

Joyce Shawn gave the demonstration on Vitamins. I was pointed out that many buy vitamins each year, and many times it is something they don’t need. It was an informative demonstration.

The next meeting is scheduled for September 20 at the clubhouse with the time to be announced later.
