Tent Sale Saturday At Dollar General Store
The Dollar General Store, located at the corner of Union Hill Road and Main Street in Ardmore, will hold a ½ Price Tent Sale all day Saturday, September 2. There will be specials inside and outside during this special event, according to store Manager Vicky Taylor.



Hometown Hugs Program Will Help Child Victims
Movie Gallery in Ardmore is conducting a Hometown Hugs program during the month of September. The goal of Hometown Hugs is to make frightening experiences a little easier for children.


Elkton Historical Society To Meet
The Elkton Historical Society will meet Tuesday, September 5, at 7 p.m. at Elkton City Hall. Guest speaker will be Nick Fielder.

Ardmore Community Bonfire & Pep Rally Set Thursday For Tigers
The Ardmore Quarterback Club, along with First American Bank in Ardmore will sponsor a Community Bonfire and Pep Rally at Ardmore High School Thursday, August 31st. Beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the concession stand in Cooper Field, varsity and junior varsity football players and coaches, varsity and junior varsity cheerleaders, and all band members will be treated to a complimentary dinner of hamburgers and hot dogs.


Ardmore Tigers Impressive In Jamboree Win
No one knew exactly what to expect as Ardmore High School’s Varsity Football Team took to the gridiron last Friday night in a pre-season jamboree game at Wilson. New Head Coach Tracy Malone had the Tigers working hard throughout the pre-season, but after last year’s winless regular season, area fans were rightfully uncertain about what would happen when the rubber met the road.


Local Youth Wins Skating Medals
Abigayle Pollock competed in the 3rd Annual Wind, Rain or Shine Ice Skating Competition in Decatur, AL, on July 15-16, 2006. She competed in two events this year: compulsories and light entertainment spotlight. Abigayle received second place in the compulsory event and first place in the light entertainment event. She received medals for her accomplishments.


Tigers Kick Off Season Friday Night
Ardmore High School’s Varsity Football Team, fresh off an impressive win over Wilson in a pre-season jamboree game, will kick off its 2006 campaign this Friday night at Cooper Field.

Talkin' Baseball
As I sit here writing this article, it is Sunday night and I find my mind drifting back to something I said in this column a little over two years ago. In that column I asserted that managers like Joe Torre, Tony LaRussa, and Bobby Cox were considered by many to be the best in baseball. I then went on to say that, although this trio of skippers were all-time greats, I would choose a different manager if I was a team owner.
