Jeffrey Ray Shipman

Jeffrey Ray Shipman, 47, of Adkins Road, Chattanooga, TN, formerly of Ardmore, AL, died Monday, August 28, 2006, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 30, at 10 a.m. at Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore with Rev. Sammy Brister officiating. Burial will follow with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.

Jeffrey Ray Shipman was born December 4, 1958, in Toledo, OH, to the late James Clyde Shipman and Faye Holman Shipman.

Survivors include his mother, Faye Shipman of Ardmore, AL; sons, Tyler Shipman and Taylor Shipman both of Iowa; daughter, Kelsey Shipman of Iowa; twin brother, Jim Shipman of Chattanooga, TN; sisters, Emmalie (Wayne) Swinson of Clarmont, GA, Jacqueline Shipman of Warner Robins, GA; special uncle, Bill Thomas Holman of Toledo, OH; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Cooley, Jamie Swinson, Zachary Farr, Donnie Holman, Billy Holman, Michael Holman and Mark Holman.


Wayne Franklin

Wayne Franklin, 71, of Lakeview Drive, Ardmore, AL, died Monday, August 21, 2006, at Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville, AL.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 23, at 11 a.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ray Stonecypher and Rev. Lynn Marshall officiating. Burial was in the Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.

Wayne Franklin was born October 8, 1934, in Lincoln County, TN, to Nathan Thomas Franklin and Lucy Virginia Ferguson Franklin. He lived all of his life in this area and was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. He was an Army Veteran. Mr. Franklin was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Shirley Franklin.

Survivors include two daughters, Paula (Tommy) Raby of Toney, AL and Janet (Mac) Barron of Ardmore, AL; one sister, Gilda (Bill) Hall of Fayetteville, TN; five grandchildren, Megan, Cody, and Chase Barron, Ben and Kayla Raby; nieces and nephews.


Edwin R. Perry

Edwin R. Perry, 82, of Elkwood Section Road, Ardmore, AL, died Sunday, August 27, 2006, at Valley View Nursing Home, Madison, AL.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 30, at 2 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ray Stonecypher, Rev. Lynn Marshall, Bro. Harold Whitt and Rev. Joel McGraw officiating. Burial will be in the Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.

Edwin Ray Perry was born May 27, 1924 in Pachuta, MS, to Quinton William Perry and Edna Rowell Perry. He lived in this area 30 years and was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Navy and was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Perry.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Perry of Ardmore, AL; two sons, Anthony R. (Gail) Perry of Meridianville, AL, and LCDR Larry Edwin (Anne) Perry (USNR-Ret.) of Harvest, AL; one daughter, Donna Lynn (Bob) Parker of Huntsville, AL; one brother, Bobby Gerald (Linda) Perry of Pachuta, MS; sister-in-law, Lola Ainsworth of Gladewater, TX; five grandchildren, Lt. Michael Dean Perry (USN), Ryan Perry, Taryn Perry, Adam Bliss and Andrew Bliss; and one great-grandchild, Nathan Perry.

Pallbearers will be Lt. Michael Dean Perry (USN), Gregory Adam Bliss, Ryan Anthony Perry, Andrew Scott Bliss, Richard G. Westrich, and Bob J. Parker.


Ruby Inez Geddings

Ruby Inez Geddings, 86, of Norman Lane, Elkmont, AL, died Sunday, August 27, 2006, at her home.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 30, at 4 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ed Edger officiating. Burial will be in the Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.

Ruby Inez was born January 28, 1920 in Petersburg, TN, to Johnny Flim Moore and Sally Mae McGee Moore. She lived in this area most of her life. She was a member of Harvest Baptist Church. Mrs. Geddings was preceded in death by her husband, Daris Isaac Geddings, and a daughter, Peggy Mae Hayes.

Survivors include sons, George David Geddings of Huntsville, AL, Richard Edward Geddings of Elkmont, AL; daughters, Juanita Inez Geddings of Elkmont, AL, Mary Frances Graves of Eugene, OR, Doris Ann Clinard of Elkmont, AL, and Linda Dian Bagsby of Hazel Green, AL; sister-in-law, Thelma Winkles of Hazel Green, AL; 23 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Carl Lynn Hayes, Steve Hayes, Jackie Hayes, Travis Hayes, B.J. Page and Cotey Page.


Quinton Marvis Guin

Quinton Marvis Guin, 81, of Coldwater Creek Road, Taft, TN, died Wednesday, August 23, 2006, at Vanderbilt University Hospital, Nashville.

Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, August 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Blanche Cemetery with Bro. Jeff Bennett officiating. Burial followed with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.

Quinton Marvis Guin was born June 23, 1925 in Jemison, AL, to Luther Guin and Pauline Headley Guin. He lived in this area approximately one year after living most of his life in the Birmingham, AL, area. He was owner of an RV dealership as well as a distributor for a pest control company. A veteran of the Air Force, he was preceded in death by brother, Foye and Wayne Guin, and a nice, Vanessa Sholley.

Survivors include daughters, Linda Guin of Texas and Gail (Schuyler) Craft of Taft, TN; a brother, Orvin (Doris) Guin of Jemison, AL; four grandchildren, Tracie Hardin and Randi Cranford both of Alabama, Jesse Bourgeois and Lee Bourgeois both of Taft, TN; three great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Rucker of Jemison, AL, Shannon Hardin and Jayden Hicks of Alabama.


David Almon Bates

David Almon Bates, 76, died Tuesday, August 22, 2006, in Montgomery, AL.

Funeral services were held Thursday, August 24, at 2 p.m. at the Leak Memory Chapel in Montgomery. Burial followed in the Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery.

David Almon Bates was born June 21, 1930, in Limestone County, AL, to Lewis David Bates and Eddie Ruth Johnson Bates. He was the grandson of the late Felix G. Bates of Reid Community in Limestone County and the late Edgar L. Johnson of Giles County, TN. He graduated from West Limestone High School and obtained a BS and MS from the University of Alabama. He was a combat veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with 1343 Engr Bn from Athens. He was a retired Civil Service worker and a long-time member of Highland Baptist Church in Montgomery. He was preceded in death by both parents and a brother, James Lewis Bates.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Sue Bates of Montgomery, AL; son, David Alan Bates of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Dorothy Weathers and Mabel B. Lee of Athens; brothers, Felix E. Bates, Hugo B. Bates, and Harold “Buddy” Bates of Athens; Bobby Bates of Montgomery, and Donald Bates of Boise, ID.
