Sparkman and Hazel Green were both successful in their respective season openers last Friday. Sparkman defeated Clay Chalkville 38-29 and Hazel Green stopped Walker 16-10.

Chris Jones opened his tenure as the head football coach at Hazel Green High School with a come-from-behind 16-10 win over Walker last Friday.

Seth Hudson returned a punt 74-yards and scored with 1:35 left to give the Trojans the win.

Walker scored the first 10 points before the Trojans could get on the scoreboard. Caleb Anderson scored on a 2-yard run and then scored on the points-after run to pull within two, 10-8.

Hudson also had an interception and a fumble recovery to lead the winners.

Clay Chalkville 29

Lamonte Elston and Jusmon Rivers combined for 320 yards rushing as the Sparkman Senators defeated the Clay Chalkville Cougars 35-29 last Friday.

Elston and Rivers scored two touchdowns apiece and Bryant Williams added another in the win. Elston scored on runs of six and four yards respectively, Rivers on a 9-yard run and a 30-yard scamper while Williams 43-yard touchdown run was the longest of the evening for either team.

The Trojans will host the Senators on Friday.
