Lady Tigers Best At Tanner

The Lady Tigers captured the championship at the Tanner Invitational Volleyball Tournament on Saturday. With wins over West Morgan B, West Limestone and Tanner, Ardmore advanced to tournament semifinals. In the tournament Ardmore bested Clements and East Limestone to win the championship.

In the championship game, Ardmore won the opener 25-18 with Chelsea Blakely serving a pair of aces on the last two points. East took the second game 25-23. Ardmore won the deciding game 15-9. Ashton Smith, who was credited with the last three points, served a pair of aces before the winning point.

In the semifinals against Clements, Ardmore won 31-29 and 27-25.

In pool play the Lady Tigers stopped Tanner 25-17 and 15-11; West Limestone 25-21 and 25-21 ands West Morgan B team 25-7 and 25-12.

Members of the All-Tournament team at Tanner were: Ardmore -Amy Collier, Courtney Browning, Ashton Smith, Chelsea Blakely and Lauren Atchley, Jennifer Ratley; East Limestone -Edrea Danielly, Rachel Stander, Erin Fudge, Clements - Sally Van Kirk, Chelsea Kimbrough, Lauren Patrick; Tanner B - Courtney Bright, Kayla Hayes; Tanner A - Ashley Hines, Cecily Woods; West Limestone - Morgan Adams, Hannah Heck, Elizabeth Dison.

The Lady Tigers defeated Columbia on Thursday in their first region match of the season. Ardmore defeated the visitors 25-12 and 25-11. It took three games to defeat Lee earlier that day. The Lady Tigers won the opener 25-18 before dropping a 25-19 decision. Ardmore won the deciding game 15-13.

Earlier in the week, East Lawrence won three games in a row to stop Ardmore. Ardmore won the first two games, 25-22 and 25-21 before the visitors won 25-16, 25-22 and 15-13.
