Hope everyone had a good Labor Day Holiday, and didn’t over work during it. The weather sure has cooled down, especially at night. We have had some rain showers. The lawn grass is pretty and green, which means it gets cut again. The garden isn’t any trouble to gather, but we do enjoy the few tomatoes. Everything else is gone, except some sweet peppers. Some items did well, some fair, and some just burnt up. The flowers were pretty this year however some didn’t last long. The fourth Sunday in August the descendants of Sam and Maude McCown enjoyed their annual family reunion at the Elkmont Depot. Eighty-two were able to attend. The family members present were Terrell “Butch” from Houston, TX, Paul from Nashville, TN, Jerry from Huntsville, AL, Richard “Dickie” and Karen Norton that live locally. The oldest, Donald, was unable to attend. He lives in Georgia. Sam and Maude McCown had two more children Kenneth and Peggy that have passed away. It was reported to have been an enjoyable event.
