Pre-K Classes Are Now
In Progress At Blanche

Classes are well underway in the Pre-Kindergarten program at Blanche School. The program has begun its first year and includes 20 students who are five years old.

Pre-K students attend classes from 7:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. each day. The children are brought to school and picked up each day by their parents. The parents must sign their child in and out each day.

Becky Tribble is the teacher for the pre-kindergarten class. She said the class is taught according to the Tennessee standards. Her assistant is Maria Patterson.

The Pre-K curriculum includes a variety of subjects taught on an age-appropriate level. The children study music, social studies, geography, Tennessee history, poetry and handwriting. The students go outside each day for play time. They also go to the gym two times each week. Pre-kindergarten students also get to paint each day.

Students may bring their own lunch or eat a lunch from the cafeteria.

According to Ms. Tribble, the students start their handwriting skills by making circles. After they make circles, they learn to go left and right, then up and down. The program is going well so far, according to Ms. Tribble. She is looking forward to the many accomplishments they will make this year.
