Visitation will be Wednesday, September 20, from 6 until 9 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 21, at 11 a.m. in the Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Cecil Allen Bell Cecil Allen Bell, 97, of Toney, AL, died Tuesday, September 19, 2006, at Crestwood Hospital, Huntsville, AL. Eugene Watson Eugene Watson, 92, of Ardmore, TN, died Tuesday, September 19, 2006, at National Health Care, Pulaski, TN. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 20, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home in Pulaski. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 21, at 1 p.m. at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Giles Memory Garden with Carr & Erwin Funeral Home in charge. Eugene Watson was born in Giles County, TN, on February 18, 1914. He was the son of the late Wyatt Bass and Eunice Maude Stevenson Watson. He was retired from the Highway Department of the State of Tennessee. Mr. Watson was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Naomi Wilson Watson. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara and husband Glen Coble Coggin of Frankewing, TN, Glenda and husband Bobby Hall of Huntsville, AL; five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Grace Phillips Appleton Grace Phillips Appleton, 84, of 8th Avenue East, Ardmore, AL, died Tuesday, September 12, 2006, at NHC Nursing Home, Pulaski, TN. Funeral services were held Friday, September 15, at 2 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dale Mitchell officiating. Burial was in the Pettusville Cemetery in Elkmont, AL, with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge. Grace Phillips was born February 11, 1922, in Stella, TN, to Ernest Phillips and Donie Poarch Phillips. She lived all her life in this area. She was a member of Pettusville Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Eber Appleton. Survivors include sons, John Michael Appleton of Minor Hill, TN, Robert Earl Appleton of Elkton, TN, and Ernest Wade Appleton of Minor Hill, TN; daughters, Linda Carol Ward, Barbara Jean Watkins, and Mildred Nadine Watkins, all of Ardmore, AL, Beverly Kay Stover of Elkmont, AL; brothers, Thomas Phillips of Prospect, TN, Aaron Phillips of Minor Hill, TN, Floyd Phillips, Lloyd Phillips, and Louie Phillips all of Martinsville, IN; sisters, Myrtle Tucker of Pulaski, TN, Mattie Gatlin of Athens, AL, and Louise Pierce of IN; 20 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services were held Friday, September 15, at 12:30 p.m. at Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore with Pastor Tom Williams officiating. Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Kenneth Lloyd Payne was born October 5, 1913, in Belle Rive, IL, to Omer Payne and Pansy Jenkins Payne. He was a veteran of the Air Force. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Frances Payne and children, Linda Lee and Randy Payne. Survivors include sons, Kenneth Alan Payne of AL, James Payne of NJ, Jonathan Payne of AL; daughters, Beverly Moher of AL, Diana Hopkins of TN, Nancy Murray of AL, Gloria Stumpf of CA, Maryanne Lockridge of AL, Ruth Ann Quinn of AL, Pauline Singer of IN, and Betty Payne of TN; brothers, Glenn Payne of IL, and Lavonn Payne of IL; sister, Vera Wilmore of TX; 37 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Burial was in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Ardmore, AL, with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge. Martha L. Carter was born March 23, 1921 in Elkmont, AL, to Ezra and Dovie Woodfin Eaves. She was raised in the Ragsdale Creek area and later moved to Athens. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Alice (Carter) Smith of Elkmont, AL; son, Woodrow Carter of Pettusville, AL; brothers, Cecil Eaves of Elkmont, AL, and Coy Eaves of Thatch, AL; grandchildren, Mark, Chris and Kerry Smith of Elkmont, AL, Connie Meadows of Lester, AL, and Krystal Lewter of Lester, AL; seven great-grandchildren and three foster great-grandchildren.
