“Cruz-In” Set Thursday
The September “Cruz-In” at Sonic in Ardmore will be Thursday, September 28. Everyone throughout the area who owns a unique or collectible car or truck is invited to participate in the “Cruz-In’. The Boys and Girls Club of Ardmore, in partnership with Sonic Drive-in, will host the event beginning at 6 p.m. at the Sonic Drive-in on Main Street.
Elkton Baptist Church Revival Set October 1-4
Elkton Baptist Church will hold its Fall Revival October 1-4 with four different speakers. Sunday’s Celebration Event will feature Evangelist Dan Moran with services at 10:55 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. with a covered dish meal after the morning service. Monday through Wednesday services will be at 7:00 p.m. nightly. Monday, the Richland Quartet will put on a mini-concert, and William Suddarth, pastor of Shores Baptist, will speak. Tuesday, Rev. Paul Mason, pastor of Wheelerton Baptist Church will be the speaker. The revival will conclude Wednesday night, with Bill Sharp, pastor of Minor Hill Baptist Church, speaking. A nursery will be provided.

The Harmony Boys To Present Final Concert Sunday, Oct. 1st
Local gospel group, The Harmony Boys, will present their final concert Sunday evening, October 1, at the Piney Grove Baptist Church in Ardmore. The original members of the group began singing gospel music in 1963 and recently announced their retirement.

Sparkman’s “The Crimson Crier” Awarded Gold Medal
For the third consecutive year Sparkman High School’s student newspaper, “The Crimson Crier,” has been awarded its third gold medal from the Columbia University Scholastic Press Association.
Homecoming Sunday At Cash Point Baptist
The congregation of the Cash Point Baptist Church will have a Homecoming Celebration Sunday, October 1. Bro. Derrick Moose and the members of the church extend an invitation to everyone including all former members and past ministers of the church to attend the special service.
Cultural Heritage Program Planned To Benefit Matt Gardner Museum
The Giles Heritage Theater will be the site of An Evening of Cultural Heritage, a benefit for the Matt Gardner Homestead Museum on Saturday, September 30. The program will be from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Giles Heritage Theater located in the First National Bank in Pulaski.

Joseph Dunavant scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak to keep the Giles Country High School Bobcats’ perfect record intact Friday with a 28-21 win over visiting Ensworth.

Blanche Lady Bulldogs Get 74th Consecutive Win
The Blanche Lady Bulldogs volleyball team ended their regular season Monday, September 25, as Lincoln County’s Regular Season Champions. The Lady Bulldogs have been undefeated for two years with 74 consecutive wins and still counting.

Ardmore High School’s Varsity Football Team traveled to Huntsville Saturday night to take on new regional foe Columbia at Milton Frank Stadium. Both teams showed grit and tenacity before heavy rains and intense lightening forced officials to halt the game with Columbia leading 12-7 at the half. |

Talkin' Baseball
As last season wound down, I mentioned in this column that I strongly believed that Ken Griffey, Jr. deserved to win the 2005 Comeback Player of the Year Award. I have strong feelings about this award again this year. In fact, I think that in the American League the choice for the recipient of the Comeback Player of the Year Award is a no-brainer.
