We received a nice shower of rain, about .28” Friday morning, then Friday afternoon and Saturday night we received another 1.6”. According to the weather people we are still about 12” short for the year. The Oak Grove Homemakers Club went on their “August Outing” this past Wednesday, September 20 due to this year’s HOT August weather. They traveled to Tuscumbia’s Spring Park. There were seven ladies that made the trip in a van with Mrs. Marvin Ruf driving. Some of the attractions they saw was the huge manmade waterfall, a music fountain, and rides for the kiddies, which included a train ride, merry-go-round, and a roller coaster. They had lunch at the Claunch Café in the park. Then they enjoyed a scenic drive through the older part of town. I didn’t get to make the trip due to not being able to get around very well or stand long. Achievement Day for the county is planned October 20, the third Friday, at The Old Mill in Ardmore, TN. The next meeting of Oak Grove Homemakers Club will be October 18 at 9:30 a.m. at the clubhouse. Visitors and new members are welcome. Last Wednesday, September 20, I was privileged to have been visited by all four of my sisters, Alma Williams, Nora Ferguson, Jeanette Davis and Cora Patterson. What a joy! Happy Birthday wishes Wednesday, September 27, Anne Whitt, Bryan Thornton, Danny Holland; Thursday, September 28, Jerry Stevenson, Perry Stevenson, Grady Rhinehart; Friday, September 29, Lynda Lankford, Jeremy Mitchell; Saturday, September 30, Leesa Barnett, Karen Hodges; Sunday, October 1, Everett Bailey, Jessica White, Lorene Blakely, Debbie Blakely, Linda Harwell, Betty Steele; Monday, October 2, Rex Crabtree, Colby Whitt, Chad Sockwell, Mrs. Thom (Mary) Smith.
