The Ardmore Public Library has fifteen books currently on their New Release list.  Dick Frances and Sandra Brown are among the top ten authors whose books are always in demand.  They currently both have a book on the list.

“Los Angeles Times” says that “Dick Francis is a genius” in his newest release Under Orders.  Sid Halley returns in triumphant.  He is at the races when he decides that “death at the races is not uncommon; however, three in a single afternoon was sufficiently unusual to raise more than one eyebrows.”  Former champion jockey Halley knows all to well the perils of racing-but in his day, jockeys didn’t usually reach the finish line with three .38 rounds in the chest.  Halley’s quest for answers draws him deeper into the darker side of the racing game, in a life-or-death power play that will push him to his very limits-both professionally and personally.

When Detective Sergeant Duncan Hatcher in Sandra Brown’s Ricochet is summoned to the home of Judge Cato Laird in the middle of the night to investigate a fatal shooting, he knows that discretion and kid-glove treatment are the keys to staying in the judge’s good graces and keeping his job.  At first glance, the case appears open-and-shut: Elise, the judge’s trophy wife, interrupted a burglary in progress and killed the intruder in self-defense.  Yet, the plot continues to twists while the suspense continues to build to create a gripping thriller, in which a decent cop’s worst enemy may be his own conscience, and trusting the wrong person could mean the difference between life and death.
