Norris Hobson Turbyfill, 70, died Monday, October 2, 2006.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 4, at 2 p.m. at Charity Cemetery with Bro. Derrick Moose officiating. Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Turbyfill served 20 years in the U.S. Army and 18 years as a civil servant at Redstone Arsenal.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Joyce Faye (Ayers); one son, Thomas V. Turbyfill of Ardmore, AL; two daughters, Deborah Burns and Alice Reed, both of Huntsville, AL; their husbands, eight grandchildren;10 great-grandchildren; and six siblings.


Sonya Michelle McAnally

Sonya Michelle McAnally, 33, of 25385 Main Street, Ardmore, TN, died Monday, October 2, 2006 at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation for Ardmore.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Bro. Anthony Ford officiating. Burial will follow in Gatlin Cemetery with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her mother and father, Janell and Lloyd Heard of Ardmore, AL; one brother Richard (Tina) McAnally of Elkmont, AL; one sister, Denise (Paul) Seidel of Hazel Green, AL; four nieces; four nephews; and many friends at SunBridge.


A.C. Brown

A.C. Brown, 84, of Piney Chapel Road, Athens, AL, died Monday, October 2, 2006, in Athens.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 4, at 10 a.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Marshall Norman and Bro. Wayne Kent officiating. Burial will be in the New Grove Cemetery with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.

A.C. Brown was born July 18, 1922 near Fayetteville, TN, to Andy Brown and Lidy Snow Brown. He lived all his life in this area. He was a member of the Truth Baptist Church. He worked as a farmer most of his life. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jones Brown.

Survivors include sons, Bobby Joe (Pat) Brown and Larry Phillip (Debbie) Brown of Athens, AL; daughter, Dorothy (Frank) Mitchell of Athens, AL; sisters, Janie Patterson of Coldwater, TN, Alma Jacob and Louise Stewart; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Brown, Jimmy Dale Hacker, Lance Brown, Steven Hacker, Billy Jones, and Terry Brown.


Lila Grace Newby Jones

Lila Grace Newby Jones, 87, of 27708 South Road, Athens, AL, died September 7, 2006, at her residence.

Funeral services were held September 9, at 3:30 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Charles Gray officiating. Burial was in the Roselawn Cemetery with Limestone Chapel Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Jones was born November 15, 1918 to Charles Thomas Newby and Anna Gilla Norton Newby in Birmingham, AL. She was a member of Jennings Chapel Church of Christ and was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Hooper Jones.

Survivors include sons, Robert Jones, Wayne Jones, Freddie Jones all of Athens, AL; daughters, Linda Eckstein, Jeanette Tyler, Myra Mae Sterling and Lila Faye Stanford, all of Ardmore, AL; 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.


Ima Christine M. Stevenson

Ima Christine M. (Chris) Stevenson died Sunday, October 1, 2006, at her residence in Huntsville, AL.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 3, at 3:00 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Marty Jordan officiating. Burial was in the Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.

Chris was born in Huntsville, AL, to James H. and Della Clem Mullins. She grew up in Elkmont and Ardmore, AL, and attended Ardmore High School and Draughn Business College in Nashville, TN.

Christine married Fred Stevenson June 30, 1944. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Harry Mullins, and her sister, Tera White.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Fred Stevenson; one daughter, Patty Baldwin; granddaughters, Christina Cannon and Courtney Baldwin; great-granddaughter, Morgyn Cannon; nephew and nieces, Jim Mullins, Wynona Hodges, and Kenneth White; and many other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were deacons of the Morningside Baptist Church.

Memorial donations may be made to the Morningside Baptist Church of Huntsville, Alabama or the Downtown Rescue Mission in Huntsville, AL.


Michael Floyd “Mike” Farrar

Michael Floyd “Mike” Farrar, 51, of Alabama Highway 53, Toney, AL, died Thursday, September 28, 2006, at Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville, AL.

Memorial funeral services were held Sunday, October 1, at 2 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ray Stonecypher officiating.

Mike Farrar was born March 2, 1955 in Kankakee, IL, to Jack Farrar and Mary Ann Simms Farrar. He lived in the Toney area 15 years after coming from Fayetteville, TN. He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Ann Farrar of Ardmore, TN; his wife, Rita Farrar of Toney, AL; son, Michael Anthony Farrar of West Palm Beach, FL; daughters, Tracy Lynn Farrar of West Palm Beach, FL, and Tabitha Nicole Brown of Athens, AL; a brother, Lloyd Jackie Farrar of Ardmore, TN; and two grandchildren.


Corean M. Shepherd

Corean M. Shepherd, 87, of Shannon Drive, Ardmore, AL, died Monday, September 25, 2006, at Athens-Limestone Hospital, Athens, AL.

Funeral services were held Thursday, September 28, at 11 a.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles E. George officiating. Burial was in the Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.

Corean was born August 12, 1919 in Limestone County, to James William George and Ula Mae Woodard George. She lived most of her life in this area. She was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by husbands, Jesse Wilburn Scott and Milton Shepherd; a son, Jesse Olan Scott; and daughter, Martha Dean Scott.

Survivors include sons, Jerry Wayne Scott of Ardmore, AL, and Swinford Ray Scott of Nashville, TN; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many friends.


Evelyn Vickers

Evelyn Vickers, 86, of Bethel Road, Elkmont, AL, died Wednesday, September 27, 2006, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 29, at 2 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Willie Earl officiating. Burial was in the Sylone Cemetery with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.

Evelyn was born October 21, 1919 in Elkmont, AL, to Morris Christenberry Carpenter and Virginia Rachel Hobbs Carpenter (later Henderson). She lived all her life in the Elkmont area. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Church of Christ. Mrs. Vickers was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Johnie Samuel Vickers.

Survivors include sons, Billy James (Jan) Vickers of Elkmont, AL, and Morris Vickers of Toney, AL; daughters, Pat (Dale) Lewter and Nancy (Berry) Cook, of Elkmont, All; eight grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Billy Joe Broadway, Jimmy Mitchell, Ricky Mitchell, Steve Mitchell, Bradley Puckett, and Eric Mitchell.


Roy T. Tucker

Roy T. Tucker, 74, of Taft, TN, died Friday, September 29, 2006, at the Huntsville Hospital.

Funeral services were held Sunday, October 1, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Gallant Funeral Home with Bro. Ralph Riddle and Dora Barnes officiating. Burial was in the Prosperity Cemetery with Gallant Funeral Home in charge.

A native of Lincoln County, TN, Mr. Tucker was the son of the late Huse and Altie Moore Tucker. He worked on a construction cleaning crew and was a member of the Baptist Chruch. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Buster and Carleen Tucker; and a half-brother, Henry Caldwell.

Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Lee Williams and husband Chris of Elora, TN; one step-daughter, Robbie L. Cowan Gault and husband Donnie of Huntland, TN; one step-son, Michael Lee Cowan and wife Cynthia of Taft, TN; one sister, Louella Cowan of Ardmore, TN; two brothers, James Tucker of Taft, TN, Samuel Tucker of Ardmore, TN; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
