Robert Glen “Turk” Magnusson

Robert Glen “Turk” Magnusson, 88, of Austin Street, Ardmore, TN, died Monday, October 9, 2006, at Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville, AL.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 11, at 11 a.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Philip and Debbie Eubanks, Rev. Lynn Marshall and Bro. Melvin Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.

Robert Glen “Turk” Magnusson was born May 23, 1918 to Ollie Ward Magnusson and Mary Ellis Arnett. He lived all his life in the Ardmore area. A member of the Ardmore United Methodist Church, he was the owner of Magnusson’s Variety Store in Ardmore for 56 years. He was a World War II Army Veteran of the 798th Company in Scotland, England, France and Belgium. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Woodfin Magnusson.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Magnusson of Ardmore, TN; one daughter, Glenda Magnusson of Ardmore, TN; step-children, Billy Joe (Nancy) Rich and Patsy (Billy Ray) Hall of Ardmore, AL; sisters, Kathleen Hillis and Lorene Davis of Ardmore, AL; three step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mike Magnusson, Ronnie Magnusson, Steve Hall, Tim Rich, Kenneth Camp and Nick Holland. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Rochelle, Moody King, Thomas Norton, Ken Crosson, Floyd Smith, Robert Wallace, Azie Magnusson and Marvin Hargrove.


Bessie Mae Gatlin Whitt

Bessie Mae Gatlin Whitt, 90, of 1st Avenue East, Ardmore, AL, died Saturday, October 7, 2006, at her residence.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 10, at 11 a.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Suddarth officiating. Burial was in the Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.

Bessie Mae was born July 14, 1916, in Toney, AL, to Walter R. Gatlin and Georgia Daniel Gatlin. She lived all her life in this area and was a member of the Ardmore First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Myers, Homer and Leemon Gatlin; and a son, James Thomas Whitt.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice (Corny) Rich of Ardmore, TN and Amy and husband LTC Felix Lee Liveoak, Jr. of Athens, AL; a daughter-in-law, Mary Whitt of Toney, AL; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Lanny Rich, James Allen Whitt, Matt Prince, James McKinley, David Rich and Mack Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.


Frances McDonald Carter

Frances McDonald Carter, 76, of Elk Street, Ardmore, TN, died Saturday, October 7, 2006, at her residence.

A memorial service was held Sunday, October 8, at 4 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Philip and Debbie Eubanks officiating.

Fran was born January 6, 1930, to T.C. McDonald and Juanita Shaw McDonald in Ruleville, MS. She lived in Ardmore for 18 years after coming home from Slidell, LA. She was a Baptist and the owner of the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in Ardmore for many years.

Survivors include daughters, Sandy Carter (James) DeWeese of Meridianville, AL, Pam Carter (Anthony) Hicklen of Ardmore, AL, Jo Leigh Carter (Bob) Mason of Lacey’s Spring, AL; son, Henry J. “Son” (Kim) Carter of Hazel Green, AL; sisters, Pauline Rainey and Jeanne (Tom) Bowman of Ardmore, Patsy (Larry) Dunnavant of Elkton, TN, Connie (Bennie) Woodall of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Cad Daly, Cassie Mayberry, Todd Tillery, Jay Carter, Brad Carter, Kellie Woodward, and Lakisha Wilbanks; and nine great-grandchildren.


Margaret Abraham

Margaret Abraham, 83, of Main Street, Ardmore, TN, died Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation for Ardmore.

A memorial service was held Friday, October 6, at 2 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Philip and Debbie Eubanks officiating.

Margaret was born August 25, 1923 in Iddo, MS, to J.S. McDonald and Helen Barlowe McDonald. She lived most of her life in Ardmore.

Survivors include one son, Ronnie Mac (Brenda) Puckett of Spring Hill, FL; nieces, Paula Rainey and Frances Carter of Ardmore, TN, Jeanne Bowman of Ardmore, AL, Gale Helums of Taft, TN, Patsy Dunnavant of Elkton, TN, Connie Woodall of Huntsville, AL and Marianne Castle of French Camp, MS; nephew, Mike McDonald of Ardmore, TN; sister, Pearl Henderson of French Camp, MS; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Marvin Glen “Buddy” Reyer, Sr.

Marvin Glen “Buddy” Reyer, Sr., 76, of Sweet Springs Road, Elkmont, AL, died Friday, October 6, 2006, at his residence.

Funeral services were held Monday, October 9, at 1 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Haney officiating. Burial was in the Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.

Marvin Glen Reyer was born December 4, 1929 in Ardmore, AL, to Ernest Eugene Reyer and Lucille Hobbs Reyer. He was a member of Sweet Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Reyer, and sister, Brenda Carol Reyer.

Survivors include sons, Bobby Glen Reyer of Elkmont, AL, and Marvin Glen (Karen) Reyer, Jr. of Center City, KY; daughters, Judy (Johnny) Morris of Duponte, IN, Patty (Jeff) Hagan of Elkmont, AL, Suzi (Craig) Staley of Clarksville, IN; brothers, Malcom Wayne Reyer of Louisville, KY and Harold Reyer of Cordin, IN; sisters, Mavis Geraldine Watson and Helen Mae Faulkner of Elkmont, AL; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Joe Edd Hargrove

Joe Edd Hargrove, 83, of Vinta Mill Road, Prospect, TN, died Thursday, October 5, 2006, at his home.

Funeral services were held Sunday, October 8, at 2 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Hargrove officiating. Burial was in the Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.

Joe Edd Hargrove was born April 10, 1923 in Prospect, TN, to Raymond Hargrove and Lillie Belle Daly Hargrove. He lived all his life in this area. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church and an Army veteran of WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle Hargrove.

Survivors include one son, Billy Ray Hargrove and special friend Mary Broadway of Elkton, TN; daughters, Linda (Frank) Funk, Glenda (Kenneth) Ussery, Mary (Donnie) Crouch all of Ardmore, AL; special friend, Terry Couch; brother, Collie Hargrove of Aspen Hill, TN; sister, Mable Scott of Nashville, TN; six grandchildren, Michael David Elder, Mickey Joe Elder, Kenneth Ray Ussery, Melinda Ann Funk Martin, Dusty Crouch and Cain Crouch; great-grandchildren, Michael Shawn Elder, Charles Lucas Elder, Amber Lerae Ussery, Ashley Leann Ussery, Makarlee Paige Martin.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Mary Lois Cobb, 86, of New Hope, AL, died Wednesday, October 4, 2006, at Huntsville Hospital.

Funeral services were held at the New Hope Funeral Home Chapel Friday, October 6 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Michael Carpenter officiating. Burial was in the Moon Cemetery with New Hope Funeral Home in charge.

Survivors include two sons, Johnny Cobb and wife Quida of New Hope and Billy Cobb and wife Glenda of Chattanooga, TN; daughter-in-law, Debra Cobb of Taft, TN; three sisters, Alice Landers and Frances Comer of New Hope and Bobbie Linger of Huntsville; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.


Caroline Baum

Caroline Baum, 54, of Old Baptist Road, Ardmore, TN, died Friday, October 6, 2006, at her residence.

Visitation will be Friday, October 13, from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 13 at 5:00 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kirk Smith officiating and Bill Dickey in charge of music.

Survivors include friends, Harry and Doris Bunton, Deborah VerBeek, Maryanne Szcaepaniak, and Betty Gunter, along with relatives in California.
