Confederate Grave Marking Dedication Planned Saturday In Elkton Cemetery
The Elkton Cemetery in Elkton, TN, will be the location of a Confederate grave marking dedication ceremony Saturday, October 28, at 11 a.m. Rita Birdsong of the Joe Wheeler Chapter No. 291 of Decatur, Alabama has organized the event honoring 14 Confederate Soldiers and one Confederate Page.  The Confederate grave marking service will be held in conjunction with the Volksmarch sponsored by the Elkton Historical Society, according to Carolyn Thompson, President.


Jim Burden Makes A Bid For Senate Seat
Limestone County resident Jim Burden, who has served as chairman of the Limestone County Republican Party for over 6 years, has qualified to run for the Alabama Senate District #2. Burden will face the Democratic incumbent in the November 7, 2006, General Election.



Church To Host Fall Bash
The congregation of the Wheelerton Baptist Church will host a fall bash with a full day of fun, food, music and games for the entire family. The event will be held Saturday, October 28, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Tigers Win Close One Over Priceville; Secure Playoff Berth
Fans of great defensive football were in hog heaven last Friday night as the home standing Ardmore Tigers entertained regional rival Priceville at Jim Cooper Field. Both teams exhibited strong defensive play and, although the defenses bent, they rarely broke.


Blanche Bulldogs Finish Strong
The Blanche Bulldogs’ offense exploded for 28 first-half points and cruised to a 34-6 victory over Riverside Christian Academy. Jacob Walker rushed for 200 yards and four touchdowns. Michael Smith scored on a three-yard run to finish the scoring.


St. Jude Bike-a-Thon Set
The third annual St. Jude Bike-A-Thon will be held Saturday, November 4, at First Baptist Church, Ardmore. The event will begin at 9 a.m. at the church located at 26670 Fifth Street in Ardmore.


Cowboys For Kids Trail Ride Sunday
The 7th annual Cowboys for Kids Trail Ride will be held Sunday, October 29, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Trail Boss for the ride will be Limestone County Sheriff Mike Blakely.


Talkin' Baseball
Tiger hurler Kenny Rogers has distinguished himself thus far in the 2006 post-season. After tossing eight inning of two-hit, shutout baseball Sunday night, Rogers had put together a streak of 23 scoreless innings in the post-season, good for Number Three on the all-time list.
