The Oak Grove Homemakers Club met the third Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at the clubhouse with seven members present. President Jeanette Davis opened the meeting to order with the thought “Worried about tomorrow? You did that yesterday, about today.” Mary Ann Jacobs led in the devotional using Psalms 121:1. Hazel Ruf led in singing “Bring in the Sheaves”, followed by the pledge to the U.S. Flag. Mrs. Jacobs, secretary, called roll and read the minutes to the past meeting. Clara Bumpus gave the treasurer’s report. Mrs. Davis gave the demonstration, on use and reuse for other tasks. She demonstrated a lint brush made from a milk jug handle and an onion sack. It does the job. Then gave out a flyer with over a page of other ideas. The next meeting will be on the third Wednesday, November 15, at 9:30 a.m. at the home of Clara Bumpus. Visitors and new members are welcome. Countywide Achievement Day was held Friday, October 20 in Ardmore at The Old Mill. A well-planned program was presented. We met our new Extension Lady Betty Ann Boman. She gave a test on Limestone County at a glance, very thoughtful. New club officers were installed for the next year. Two of our ladies attended the district Autumn meeting near Guntersville, AL, Mrs. Bumpus and Mrs. Sara Lipham. Our council President Mary Lou Wheatley attended the state council meeting in Birmingham. The Achievement Day was enjoyable. A very nice lunch was served. Several door prizes were given away.
