Lincoln, Giles County General Election Nov. 7
Voters in Lincoln and Giles counties will go to the polls Tuesday, November 7 for the general election. The positions of Governor, U.S. Senator, U.S. House of Representatives, State Senator, State House of Representatives 39th District and 67th District will be determined in this election. Two Constitutional Amendments are also on the ballot.


Minor Hill City Fundraiser Nov. 11
A beauty pageant will be held on November 11, 2006 at 3:00 in Minor Hill, TN at the Minor Hill Community Building to raise money for the Minor Hill City Christmas Parade Committee.


St. Jude Bike-A-Thon Saturday At FBC
The Ardmore community can help save lives by participating in a Wheels-For-Life Bike-A-Thon to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Community Development Block Grant Meeting Planned Nov. 3
Giles County, Tennessee will hold a public meeting at 10:00 am, Friday, November 3, 2006 in the County Executive’s Office of the Giles County Courthouse to discuss the community Block Grant (CDBG) Program administered by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the guidelines of the program and to solicit input from area residents regarding potential uses of CDBG funds. CDBG funds can be used for water line extensions, water system improvements, sewer line extensions, sewer system improvements, housing rehabilitation, and other community development projects such as fire protection, drainage, rural health departments, etc.


Library Fundraiser Slated November 2
Keith Dunnavant, author of several books about college football, including “The Missing Ring:  How Bear Bryant and the 1966 Alabama Crimson Tide Were Denied College Football’s Most Elusive Prize,” will be speaking at the Athens-Limestone Public Library at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, November 2nd.

Ardmore Junior Teams Compete In West Limestone Tourney
The Ardmore Middle School boys basketball team as well as the girls junior team are both in action at the West Limestone High School Junior High Tip-Off Tournament.


Lady Elks See Action In Cornersville Tourney
The Elkton Lady Elks played well according to Coach Tammy Ogea in their outing against Liberty in the Cornersville Basketball Tournament.


Tigers Notch Regional Win Over DAR
Ardmore High School’s Varsity Football Team turned in an impressive performance last Friday night, defeating the visiting DAR Patriots in a key Region 7 match up. The Tigers, riding a stingy defensive effort and an opportunistic offense, took the measure of DAR by a score of 28-7.


King’s Kids Basketball Sign-Ups Now In Progress
Sign-ups are now in progress for King’s Kids basketball at First Baptist Church, Ardmore. The last day to register for King’s Kids basketball is Sunday, November 12.


Giles Co. Bobcats Get Win Over Marshall Co.
The Giles County High School Bobcats closed out their regular season with a 36-32 win over the Marshall County Tigers last Friday. Giles County will face Bolivar Central in Friday night’s opening round of the state playoffs.


Elkmont Red Devils Fall To Region Leader
The Colbert County Indians, the Class 3A Region 8 leader, proved too much for the Elkmont Red Devils Friday night. The Indians jumped to a 14-0 advantage on the way to a 36-12 win.


Falcons End Season With Shut-out Win
The Lincoln County Falcons blanked the Cumberland Jets 29-0 in Region 3 5A football action Friday night. The Falcons complete the season with a 7-3 worksheet. They finished second in the region race with a 4-1 mark. The Jets finished 0-10.


Sparkman Now On Top Of Region 8 6A
The Sparkman Senators scored the first 17 points in their 24-10 win over the Bob Jones Patriots Friday night. With the win Sparkman will enter the state playoffs as the top team in Region 8 6A.


Talkin' Baseball
Well fans, the Hot Stove League is upon us. I must admit, the end of the baseball season took me by surprise. I expected the Detroit - St. Louis series to go a full seven games. Little did I know that the badly limping Cardinals would all of a sudden discover a pitching staff and dispatch the upstart Tigers in five games.
