The Sparkman Senators scored the first 17 points in their 24-10 win over the Bob Jones Patriots Friday night. With the win Sparkman will enter the state playoffs as the top team in Region 8 6A.

Michael Kitchens gave Sparkman a 3-0 lead by kicking a 32-yard field goal with just over 8 minutes left in the opening period.

Lamonte Elston scored on a pair of 1-yard runs, in the second and another in the third to extend the Senator lead. Elston completed the scoring in the fourth quarter on a 6-yard run.

Sparkman travels to Athens Friday to close out the regular season.

Hazel Green 7

Grissom’s Tigers scored the first 17 points in their 24-7 win over Hazel Green last Friday.

The Trojans scored early in the third quarter when Richard Thompson raced 18-yards to score. Thompson’s fumble recovery set up the touchdown. Bill Nyman provided the extra point.

The Tigers scored the final touchdown on a 6-yard pass in the third quarter.

Hazel Green will travel to Anniston to close out their season on Friday.
