Tennessee Council Meets
The Ardmore, Tennessee City Council met at the City Annex November 2, 2006 at 6:30 P.M. Mayor Bobby Hastings brought the meeting to order. Police Chief “Doc” Oliver opened with prayer. Present at the meeting were Mayor Hastings, Vice Mayor Ken Crosson, and Aldermen Raymond Crabtree, Garon Hargrove, Laurene Schrimsher, Tim McConnell and Janice Reece.
Elkton School Festival Slated Friday, Nov. 10
The Elkton School PTO will hold their annual Harvest Festival Friday, November 10th from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Joint Council Discusses Salaries
The Ardmore, Tennessee/Alabama City Council held a joint meeting at the Annex in Tennessee on November 2, 2006 at 7:30 p.m. Ardmore, TN Mayor Bobby Hastings brought the meeting to order with Ardmore, AL Mayor Eugene Shannon. Roll call included Ardmore, AL Councilmen Mary Hobbs, Melody Duffey, and Billy Shannon, and Ardmore, TN Aldermen Ken Crosson, Tim McConnell, Laurene Schrimsher, Janice Reece, Raymond Crabtree and Garon Hargrove. Minutes were read from the last meeting and approved.
Daly To Be Sworn In As Co. Commissioner
Gary Daly will be officially sworn in as the District 1 Limestone County Commissioner on Saturday, November 11. The ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. in the auditorium upstairs above the Ardmore Police Department.
L & S Food Market Celebrates 43 Years
L & S Food Market in Ardmore is celebrating its 43rd Anniversary this month. The food market, located on Ardmore Avenue in Ardmore, AL, has long been a pillar of the local business community.

Community Wide Pep Rally Set Thursday
Get out your shakers and black and gold, Ardmore, because the Tigers are state bound! The Ardmore Tigers, 8-2, are pitted against the Guntersville Wildcats, 9-1, in the first round of Regional Playoff competition Friday night, November 10. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. in Guntersville.

Tigers Win At Clements In Overtime
Ardmore High School’s Varsity Football Team traveled west to take on the always competitive Clements Colts last Friday night. In a hard fought contest that featured strong defensive efforts by both teams, the game stood deadlocked at 14-14 at the end of regulation.

Lady Tigers Third In Tournament
The Ardmore Middle School Lady Tigers finished third in the five-team West Limestone Tip-Off Tournament Saturday. Ardmore opened the tournament with a 35-30 win over Elkmont, dropped a 35-33 decision to East Limestone on Thursday before winning Saturday’s consolation game 38-13 over West Limestone.
Falcons Lead Early, Hang On For Win
The Lincoln County Falcons advanced to the second round of the state play offs with a 24-22 win over the visiting Lebanon Blue Devils last Friday. Enjoying a 24-0 lead the Falcons had to hang on for the win as the Blue Devils scored three touchdowns in a 5-minute span late in the fourth quarter. With the win the Falcons travel to Murfreesboro Friday for a date with the Riverdale Warriors.
Hazel Green Closes Season With A Win
Richard Thompson ran for 202 yards and one touchdown to lead the Hazel Green Trojans to a 22-20 win over Anniston last Friday. That is the first win for first-year Trojan coach Chris Jones.
Falcons End Season With Shut-out Win
The Giles County High School Bobcats scored 13 fourth quarter points to ensure a 27-12 win over Bolivar in the first round of the state play offs at Sam Davis Stadium last Friday. With the win the Bobcats make the trek to Jackson on Friday to face undefeated South Side. South Side eliminated Cheatham Co. 42-35 in the opening round.
Talkin' Baseball
Well baseball fans, the entertainment quotient for the 2007 season increased tenfold last week when the Cubbies hired the irascible Lou Piniella to take the helm at Wrigley Field next year. I must admit I was pleased with the hiring of Piniella, not so much because I am fond of the Cubs, but instead, because there are few managers in baseball as fun to watch as Sweet Lou.
