Tigers Win At Clements In Overtime

Ardmore High School’s Varsity Football Team traveled west to take on the always competitive Clements Colts last Friday night. In a hard fought contest that featured strong defensive efforts by both teams, the game stood deadlocked at 14-14 at the end of regulation.

Standout tailback Derrick Green iced the game for the Tigers when he scampered into the end zone from 15 yards out to give Ardmore a 20-14 win.

Green’s score came on the Tigers’ second play from scrimmage in overtime.

Clements had first possession of the ball in overtime and drove all the way to the Ardmore one yard-line. The Colts then drew a penalty for having too many players on the field. On the next play, Landon Curtis picked off a Cody Arnold pass and the Tigers took over possession of the ball. Two plays later Green scored.

Green led the Tigers with 148 yards rushing. The Tigers amassed a total of 244 offensive yards.

The Tigers begin the first round of the Regional Playoffs Friday night. Ardmore travels to Guntersville to take on the Guntersville Tigers. Guntersville finished the regular season with a 9-1 mark.

Kickoff is set for 7 PM.
