Lady Tigers Third In Tournament The Ardmore Middle School Lady Tigers finished third in the five-team West Limestone Tip-Off Tournament Saturday. Ardmore opened the tournament with a 35-30 win over Elkmont, dropped a 35-33 decision to East Limestone on Thursday before winning Saturday’s consolation game 38-13 over West Limestone. Ardmore 38 West Limestone 13 The Ardmore Lady Tigers allowed only one field goal in their 38-13 win on Saturday. Ardmore outscored their opposition 12-3 in the opening quarter. In the second half the Lady Tigers scored 23 points while West Limestone could manage just three free throws. Callie Bryant led the winners with 12 points while Brittany Brown scored nine. Scoring four points each for Ardmore were Callie Steadman and Kelsey Gilbert as Elizabeth Hodges finished with three points. Scoring two points each were Sara Wales, Maggie Mitchell and Sam Taylor. Briana Looney, who hit a two-pointer in the second quarter, led the Lady Wildcats with five. East Limestone 35 Ardmore 33 Tori Moore scored seven fourth quarter points to lead East Limestone to a 35-33 win over Ardmore on Thursday. Moore took game honors with 14 point. Ardmore had a balanced scoring attack as Callie Bryant finished with eight while Elizabeth Hodges and Brittany Brown each scored six and Callie Steadman five. Scoring two points each for the Lady Tigers were Emily Faulkner, Susanna Eubanks, Ashley Miles and Kelsey Gilbert. Ardmore led 6-5 after one quarter of play, East Limestone led 17-15 after two quarters and 23-22 after three. Ardmore 35 Elkmont 30 The Ardmore Middle School Lady Tigers never trailed after the first quarter in their 35-30 win over Elkmont last Monday. After playing to a 5-5 deadlock at the end of the first quarter Ardmore outscored their opponents 11-6 in the second quarter and never trailed again. Brittany Brown and Callie Steadman scored seven points apiece while Callie Bryant and Nikki Clark each added six. Emily Faulkner finished with four points for the winners as Susanna Eubanks and Ashley Miles scored two points each and Elizabeth Hodges one. Courtney Phillips scored 20 points for Elkmont while Rachel Buzonowski finished with 10. |
