Ardmore Native To Be Featured In Guinness Book of World Records

Ardmore native Donnie Faulk will be listed in the 2007 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records. Faulk has achieved the record of building the largest horseshoe sculpture made of 100% horseshoes.

Faulk’s sculpture of a horse contains 1,071 horseshoes welded together. The sculpture weighs about 700 pounds, measures 15.2 hands high and took approximately 1000 hours to build. It is the fifth of six horses constructed by Faulk from horseshoes. His third and fourth horses are now on display at Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museums in Orlando, Florida and Wisconsin.

Born and raised in Ardmore, Faulk now resides in Pulaski, TN. He has always been interested in horses. A real cowboy, he has participated in rodeos and done farrier work. He began his sculpting with smaller horseshoe sculptures and then decided to create a large horse. After the first horse, he has built five more.

Faulk, who is also an entertainer and musician, performs across the country in a show called Guitar Gus and His Lucky Horse “Shoo”. During the performance Faulk is atop his horse sculpture and appears to be a mechanical man playing a guitar. The sculpture is transported from show to show in a real horse trailer.

The show, promoted by Triangle Talent of Louisville, has been performed in Gatlinburg, TN, at the Kentucky State Fair, Iowa State Fair and several other places. Faulk will be performing at the Paris Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on December 4, 5 and 6.
