Lady Tigers Stop Devils

The Ardmore Lady Tigers stopped Elkmont 53-52 Saturday in the late consolation game in the 13th Annual Lions Club Thanksgiving Classic. The winners trailed nine points in the fourth quarter and rallied for the win. On Friday, Ardmore dropped a 60-34 decision.

Ardmore 53, Elkmont 52

After a time out, the Ardmore Lady Tigers ran the play as Coach Kim Walker designed it to stop Elkmont 53-52.

Trailing by nine, earlier in that quarter the Lady Tigers battled back to get the win.

Courtney Pettus and Lauren Atchley each hit a pair of three pointers and Atchley two free throws to give Ardmore their first lead, 51-49, since the opening quarter.

Olivia Pressnell’s three-pointer with 16 seconds left gave the lead back to the Lady Red Devils.

Jenifer Mills’ two-pointer gave the win to the Lady Tigers.

Bailee Robinson led Elkmont with 26 points. She was the only player to score in every quarter.

The Lady Red Devils led 15-9 after one quarter, 23-21 after two and 41-23 after three.

Atchley led the winners with 13 as Mills and Pettus each scored nine. Hailey Drake scored eight points as Shannon Fogg and Brittany Miles each scored seven.

Kasey Menifee had five points for Elkmont as Amber Harwell, Jamie Lack and Stephanie Bentley each scored four.

Haleyville 60, Ardmore 34

The Lady Lions from Haleyville outscored Ardmore 20-4 in the fourth quarter in their 60-34 win over the Ardmore Lady Tigers in their opening game of the 13th Annual Ardmore Lions Club Thanksgiving Classic Friday.

Logan Tedder and Caroline King led the winners with 17 and 13 points respectively.

Courtney Pettus, Hailey Drake and Brittany Miles scored seven points each for Ardmore.

The winners outscored Ardmore 18-4 in the second quarter and used that big fourth quarter for the win. In the second, Ardmore had a two-pointer from Shannon Fogg and one free throw each from Lauren Atchley and Landria Curtis. Pettus had a three-pointer and a free throw in the fourth quarter for Ardmore.

Curtis finished with six as Fogg and Jenifer Mills finished with three points. Atchley scored one point for Ardmore. Richland defeated Haleyville 47-39 in the girls’ championship game.

West Limestone 53, Ardmore 46

Free throws in the fourth quarter made the difference last Tuesday when the visiting Lady Wildcats of West Limestone stopped Ardmore 53-46 in regular season action.

Elizabeth Dison led the winners with 18 points as Savanna Smith scored 11 and Natalie Harrison 10.

Jenifer Mills, who hit four three-pointers, led Ardmore with 16 points. Lauren Atchley, who had three three’s added nine. Hailey Drake and Brittany Miles each scored six for the Lady Tigers while Shannon Fogg scored one.

Ardmore hit 1-of-3 shots from the charity in the second half while the Lady Wildcats hit 8-of-17 tries.

Heidi Taylor came off the bench to score six points for the winners.

A pair of road trips await the Lady Tigers. Tanner will provide the opposition on Friday while Ardmore faces Athens Bible School on Tuesday.
