Ardmore Tigers Capture Top Prize The Ardmore Tigers defeated West Limestone 58-47 late Saturday night to capture first place in the 13th Annual Lions Club Thanksgiving Classic. The Tigers knocked off Cornersville, Haleyville and West Limestone to win the top prize among six teams. Ardmore 58, West Limestone 47 The game was tied only once as the Ardmore Tigers defeated the Wildcats from West Limestone 58-47. Duron Robinson and Matthew Clem led the winners with 18 and 12 points respectively. Will Lewis and Landon Curtis each added seven points for the winners while Feraas Al-Saba and Jake Stagner scored six points apiece and James Vann Teeples two. The lead changed hands only twice in the opening quarter before Ardmore tied the score at 9-9. Leading by seven in the second quarter, 22-16, the Wildcats went on a scoring run before Ardmore tied the score at 24-24. Robinson’s three-pointer late in the third quarter broke a 33-33 tie. The Tigers never trailed again. Zane Campbell led all scorers with 21 points for the Wildcats. Cody Smith, who hit three of his four three-pointers in the second half, finished with 12. Cody Herring added eight for the Wildcats while J. J. Taylor and Darius Smith each scored four and Jordan Oles three. Robinson and Clem had two three-pointers apiece for the winners. Ardmore 69, Haleyville 63 Matthew Clem hit five free throws and Duron Robinson a two-pointer in overtime to lead Ardmore to a 69-63 win over Haleyville in Friday night’s semifinal contest. Clem finished with 25 points to take game honors while Landon Curtis scored 17. Robinson finished with nine as Will Lewis and Feraas Al-Saba scored six points each. James Vann Teeples scored four and Jake Stagner two points for Ardmore. Lewis hit a free throw 1:05 left in regulation to give Ardmore a 58-55 lead. Jonathan Lindley’s two-pointer narrowed that margin to three seconds later, Clem’s free throw with 27.3 seconds pushed the Tiger lead to three. Haleyville’s Patrick Brown made a three-point play to send the game into extra minutes. Ardmore 75, Cornersville 44 A big second half enabled the Ardmore Tigers to ease past the Cornersville Bulldogs 75-44 in the opening game of the 13th Annual Ardmore Lions Club Thanksgiving Classic last Friday. Leading 31-24 after two quarters of play, Ardmore scored 28 points in the third quarter and 26 in the fourth enroute to the win. The Tiger defense allowed the Bulldogs 20 second-half points. All 10 Tigers scored in the win. Matthew Clem led Ardmore with 21 points, Will Lewis added 13 while J. J. Jones added eight. Ryan McMunn scored six points, and Landon Curtis five for the winners. T. J. Duncan, James Vann Teeples and Jake Stagner scored four points each for Ardmore as Duron Robinson and Clay Wales each scored two and Feraas Al-Saba two. Steven Nelms scored 15 and Tyler Cole 10 for the Bulldogs. All of Clem’s points came in two periods. He scored 9 in the opening quarter, including a three-pointer, and 12 in the third, including three three-pointers. Lewis had three three-pointers for the winners. Ardmore 70, West Limestone 67 Jake Stagner and Duron Robinson hit a pair of two-pointers each in overtime to lead the Ardmore Tigers to a 70-67 win over the visiting West Limestone Wildcats last Tuesday in regular season action. Stagner, who scored all his points in the second half, and Will Lewis led a balanced scoring attack with 14 points each. Robinson added 11 points as Matthew Clem and Landon Curtis each scored 10. The Wildcats had balanced scoring as well. Zane Campbell led West with 22 points while Darius Smith scored 16. Scoring 11 points each were Cody Smith and Cody Herring. The Tigers lost the lead in the second quarter trailing 27-18 at the half, as Stagner and Clem led the Tigers in the fourth quarter to combine for 15 of their 26 points that period. Both teams scored four field goals in overtime but Lewis’ free throws made the difference. Ardmore travels to Tanner Friday and Athens Bible School on Tuesday. |
