Local Chamber Of Commerce Sponsors Ambassador Youth Leadership Program

The Ardmore, AL/TN Chamber of Commerce has an “Ambassador Youth Leadership Program” which started about 10 years ago. There are 12 senior students participating at this time from Ardmore High School. The program started in September and ends April 26, 2007. Although already in progress, students can still apply at the Chamber of Commerce.

The students go on field trips to farms, banks and to other business ventures to learn how the money is transacted, to court houses to meet judges and learn the judicial system, to governmental offices and talk with the leaders of our states, among a few.Last Thursday, November 30, the students went on a field trip beginning at First Search America learning how to get a job in the agricultural field. From there they went to Bayless Dairy Farm to learn how the process of farming works, then to Clark’s Feed to see the end result.

On Tuesday December 12, they will go to the Ardmore Chamber of Commerce to be introduced to the business community, then in January 2007 their field trip will be to learn all about real estate.

The students will learn to develop leadership skills - enhance the participant’s knowledge of public relations - increase the participant’s knowledge of governmental operations - to learn to work as a team in, “Two States - Four Counties - and One Community”, - to enhance the participant’s social skills, and to enhance the participant’s ability to relate to business leaders in our community.
