Sutton Leads Lady RedHawks To Victory Lorraine Sutton scored 21 points and had seven steals to lead the Lady RedHawks at Martin Methodist College to a 74-57 win over Spalding University in the Curry Christian Life Center. Quaneisha Edwards scored 17 points, 13 in the first half. Martin jumped to a 12-5 lead after three minutes of play, the Lady Eagles cut that lead to two, 20-18, four minutes. Martin scored the last 20 points of the first half before Spalding’s Kristen Pendleton ended that run. The winners maintained at least a 10 point lead through the first eight minutes of the second half. Their largest lead, 70-52, came with four minutes remaining. Pendleton scored 19 points for the visitors. The Lady RedHawks accounted for 26 points off of 15 steals and 25 Spalding turnovers. The reserves produced 27 points. The Martin Methodist College Classic will be this Friday and Saturday at the Curry Christian Life Center. Freed-Hardeman and Brescia University will meet in the 6 p.m. opener Friday. The nightcap will feature Martin opposite Campbellsville University. |
