Tigers Fall To Tanner, Drop Region Games

It was a cold night inside and outside the gym at Tanner High School Friday as visiting Ardmore dropped a 72-48 decision. Earlier in the week the Madison County won the battle of the Tigers taking a 51-48 decision.

Tanner 72, Ardmore 48

Shooting 29.6 percent from the field and 43.8 percent from the charity stripe the Ardmore Tigers fell to the Tanner Rattlers 72-48 last Friday. The Rattlers held a 43-37 rebounding advantage while connecting on 46.2 percent of their tries from the field and 64.7 percent from the foul line.

Six Rattlers scored in the opening period as they jumped to a 21-11 lead. Latraious Mosley had two dunks within a minute in the second quarter. Mosley led all scorers with 19 points.

Feraas Al-Saba led the Tigers with 12 points including three three-pointers, all in an 18- point fourth quarter as they limited the Rattlers to 14 points. Al-Saba and fellow reserve J. J. Jones accounted for of Ardmore’s points that quarter.

Tanner outscored Ardmore 15-8 in the second and 17-8 in the third.

Duron Robinson, Ryan McMunn and Landon Curtis scored five points each for Ardmore while Will Lewis, T. J. Duncan and Jones added four points each. Matthew Clem, James Vann Teeples and Jake Stagner rounded out the scoring with two points each.

Richard Nasseri, Clay McMeans and Rod Byrd each scored nine as Delano Yarbrough scored seven. Josh Smith added four, Shan Kuntz three while Demarcus King and Amos Draper scored two each and Matt Smith one for Tanner.

Madison Co. 51, Ardmore 48

The Ardmore Tigers’ come-from-behind bid fell short Tuesday as they dropped a 51-48 decision to the visiting Madison County Tigers in the region opener for both schools.

Ardmore led 15-10 in the second quarter before the visiting Tigers reeled off seven unanswered points. When Ryan Cross hit a two-pointer with 3:29 left in the second quarter Madison County had their first lead.

Four was as close as Ardmore could get in the fourth quarter. Jake Stagner hit a three-pointer to narrow the gap, 39-35. Trailing 35-30 at the end of the third quarter, Ardmore narrowed that gap to three. Madison County jumped to a 48-40 advantage before James Vann Teeples hit a two-pointer and Landon Curtis a pair of free throws.

The visitors hit three free throws with 37.5 seconds remaining. T. J. Duncan hit a two-pointer and Feraas Al-Saba a pair of free throws in the time remaining.

Matthew Clem led Ardmore with 16 points while Jake Stagner scored 11. Teeples scored eight for the home standing Tigers as Duron Robinson and Curtis each scored four. Al-Saba and Duncan each scored two and Will Lewis one for Ardmore.

Johnny Hornbuckle led Madison County with 15 Cross had 12 and Terrence Nance 10.

The Tigers have three home games on the schedule. Columbia will invade the Tiger gym Friday, East Limestone on Tuesday and Elkmont on the following Friday.
