Lady Tigers Take Two Victories

The Columbia Lady Eagles and the Athens Bible School Lady Trojans were the last victims of an improving Ardmore Lady Tiger varsity basketball team. Last Friday the Lady Tigers defeated the visiting Columbia Eagles 63-43. Last Tuesday the Lady Tigers left the Athens Bible School gym with a 62-32 win.

Ardmore 63, Columbia 43

The Ardmore Lady Tigers scored the last seven points of the first quarter and the first eight of the second on the way to a 63-43 win over the visiting Columbia Eagles. It was the first area win of the season for the Tigers. Four different Ardmore players scored in the run.

Leading 27-15 the Tigers scored eight of the last 10 points of the second quarter.

Columbia staged a run of their own in the third quarter. With Ardmore leading 48-23, the Lady Eagles scored six unanswered points.

Hailey Drake and Brittany Miles scored 16 points each for Ardmore while Shannon Fogg added 12. Lauren Atchley had five for the winners as Jennifer Ratley scored four, Landria Curtis three and Courtney Pettus two.

Kim Pointer led all scorers with 23 for Columbia.

Ardmore 62, Athens Bible School 32

Lauren Atchley scored 15 points and Jennifer Mills 13 as the Ardmore Lady Tigers defeated Athens Bible School 62-32 last Tuesday.

The game was close in the first quarter before Ardmore reeled off eight unanswered points to lead 27-17. After allowing one free throw, the Lady Tigers scored six unanswered points.

Ardmore led 46-20 after two quarters and 48-30 after three. In the fourth quarter Ardmore scored the first 12 points before Katie Eubanks scored for Athens Bible School. Atchley scored the last points of the game.

Courtney Pettus finished with nine points for the winner while Hailey Drake and Jennifer Ratley each scored six and Brittany Miles five. Christina Covington scored four for Ardmore as Shannon Fogg and Landria Curtis each scored two.

Kirsten McClure and Christina Ivey each scored 10 for the Lady Trojans while Lindsey McClure added seven.
