Tina L. Helums

Tina Lorene Helums, 45, of U-Take-It Road, Ardmore, TN, died Sunday, December 17, 2006, at Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville, AL.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 20, at 1 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Hargrove and Bro. Larry Bottom officiating. Burial will be in the Gatlin Cemetery in Ardmore with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.

Tina was born September 21, 1961, in Decatur, AL, to Billy Ross Helums and Yvonne Morris Helums. She lived all her life in this area. She was preceded in death by her father, brother, Tommy Helums, and grandparents.

Survivors include her mother, Yvonne Helums of Ardmore, AL; soul mate, Davy Smith and sons Danny, Joey, and Jordan of Fayetteville, TN; brothers, Tony (Khristy) Helums of Ardmore, AL, and Tim Helums of Ardmore, TN; nieces, Ashley, Haley, and Jessica; nephew, John; uncle and aunt, Bussy and Linda Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends.


Dalton Cecil Rogers

Dalton Cecil Rogers, 80, of Bobo Section Road, Toney, AL, died Monday, December 18, 2006, at Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville, AL.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 20, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 21, at 10 a.m. at Ardmore First Baptist Church with Bro. Wayne Hayes, Bro. Sammy Brister, and Bro. Wheeler Kidd officiating. Burial will be in the Gatlin Cemetery with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.

Dalton Cecil Rogers was born February 1, 1926, in Huntsville, AL, to E.O. Rogers and Winnie Mae Jones Rogers. He lived all his life in Madison County. He played basketball and graduated from Hazel Green High School. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army in the South Pacific. He was retired from Madison County Juvenile Detention Center and was a member of the Ardmore First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Lee Neaves Rogers of Toney, AL; one son, Lynn (Janice) Rogers of Toney, AL; one daughter, Kay (Ray) Widner of Ardmore, AL; special friend, Reuben Thomas of Louisville, KY; four grandchildren, Christopher and Melissa Rogers, Jason and Justin Widner.


Sherman Lyle Whitt

Sherman Lyle Whitt, 69, died Monday, December 11, 2006, at his home in Panama City, FL.

Heritage Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. A Springtime memorial is planned to honor his memory and celebrate his life.

Survivors include two daughters, Tuesday and Wednesday of San Diego, CA; two stepsons, Robert and Mike of Louisville, KY; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ann Lewter of Fayetteville, TN, Betty Jones of Ardmore, and Patsy Houk of Romeo, MI.

Eunice Christine King

Eunice Christine King, 74, of Elkton Road, Athens, AL, died Tuesday, December 12, 2006, at Medical Center East, Birmingham, AL.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 16, at 3 p.m. at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim Keenum officiating. Burial was in the Fielding Cemetery in Athens, AL, with Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in charge.

Eunice Christine was born August 2, 1932 in Limestone County, AL, to Thomas Lee Taylor and Annie Sue Clark Taylor. She lived most of her life in the Athens area. She was of the Church of Christ faith. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James Luther King; and two grandchildren, Gary and James Allen King.

Survivors include sons, Ray King of Rogersville, AL and Steve King of Athens, AL; daughters, Donna Hargrove and Shelia Johnson of Athens, AL; sister, Lucille Scroggins of Athens, AL; 10 grandchildren, Donald King, Cleabron King, Jason Hargrove, Jonathon Johnson, David Johnson, Rose King, Carla Johnson, Glenda Johnson, Kaitlynn King, Adrianna King; and 10 great-grandchildren.


Charles Lee “Shorty” Burgett

Charles Lee “Shorty” Burgett, 52, of Green Street, Huntsville, AL, died Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at Huntsville Hospital, Huntsville, AL.

Graveside funeral services were held Friday, December 15, at 11 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Ardmore with Bro. J.B. Dunn. Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home was in charge.

Charles Lee Burgett was born April 7, 1954 in Rogersville, AL, to John Elmer Burgett and Frances Marjorie Smith Burgett (now Robertson). He lived most of his life in Huntsville, AL. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Cecil Burgett.

Survivors include his mother, Frances Burgett Robertson of Arab, AL; brothers, Tim Burgett and Charles Burgett of Arab, AL; sisters, Carrie Burgett and Gina Hollingsworth of Huntsville, AL.


John J. Weaver

John J. Weaver, 96, died Thursday, December 14, 2006, at Crestwood Hospital, Huntsville, AL.

Graveside funeral services were held Friday, December 15, at 1:00 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home.

John J. Weaver was born May 2, 1910. He was a Navy WWII veteran that served on the USS Shangra La. He worked with Von Braun and designed and built the nose cone on the Saturn rockets. Mr. Weaver was a 32nd Degree Mason for 51 years and part of the Weconnet Chapter No. 247 in Jacksonville, FL. He was also a member of the Zamora Temple and the Tennessee Valley Alley Clowns of America.

He was preceeded in death by his wife Mary A. Weaver, 1999; daughter, Swana Headrick, 2001; and his great great granddaughter, Ashley Steelman.

He is survived by his granddaughter, Shelia Back (Terry); grandson, Jerry Headrick (Linda); five great grandchildren, Tamra Trew (Jerry), Tina Stewart (Chuck), Swana Meeks (Jamey), John Headrick (Amanda) and Joe Hutto (Valerie); 11 great great grandchildren and 1 great great great grandchild.

Memorial donations may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
