B-team Wins Two More

The Ardmore Tiger B-team picked up two more wins last week on the hardwoods. On Tuesday the B’s stopped Athens Bible School 36-18 before handing Columbia a 48-38 loss on Friday.

Ardmore 48, Columbia 38

The inside duo of Matthew Smith and Jake Marlow combined for 33 points in Ardmore’s 48-38 victory over the visiting Columbia Eagles last Friday.

Smith scored nine of his game high 20 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Tigers. Marlow netted eight fourth quarter points in the win.

The visitors trailed 10-3 after one quarter and 21-9 after two quarters of action before rallying for 20 points to tie the score 29-29 after three quarters. Columbia scored the last nine points of the quarter after a field goal from Clay Wales.

In the fourth Destin Williams scored for the visitors before Ardmore scored the next nine points. Smith and Marlow combined for the next 10 points before Columbia could score again.

Wales had six points for the winners while Matt Lannom and Zane Hambay each scored two and Angel Barrios one.

Destin Simon and Williams led the Eagles with nine points each.

Ardmore 36, Athens Bible School 18

Getting off to a good start, the Ardmore Tigers scored the first six points gave up a free throw and scored the last seven points of the quarter to lead 13-1 after one. The Tigers won the contest 36-18.

The Tigers did not allow a field goal until the fourth quarter. ABS hit a free throw in the first, three in the second and four in the third. In the fourth quarter the Trojans hit a three-pointer and three two-pointers.

Matthew Smith led the winners with nine points as Jonathan Shannon scored six and Clay Wales five. Jake Marlow had four points for the Tigers while David Keenum had three. Jeffery Boyce and Jared Atchley each had one for the winners.

A. J. Price had five points for the Trojans as Brandon Fisk and Landon McWhirter each scored four points.
