Malone Named Coach Of The Year

Ardmore High School Head Football Coach Tracy Malone has been selected as the Region 7-AAAA Coach Of The Year. The announcement came when selections for all-region and all-area were made public.

Ardmore Tigers named to the All-Area Team include Derrick Green, 1st team offense; Jared Robison, 2nd team offense. Named to the 1st team Defense are Duron Robinson; 2nd team defense, Landon Curtis; Tavo Sanchez, Bubba Lobberecht and JJ Jones.

Region 7-AAAA individual awards include Tana Patrick, North Jackson, Overall MVP; Chad Dewitt, East Limestone, Offensive MVP; Mario Nwaubani, Columbia, Deffensive MVP; Jacob Appleby, East Limestone, Kicker Of The Year and East Limestone’s Sam Chaney, Punter Of The Year.

Coach Malone’s recognition came after his taking a winless Tiger team in 2005 and leading them in 2006 to the first round of the state play-offs and a regular season mark of 8-3.

Tigers named to the Region 7-AAAA 1st team offense are Jared Robison, OL and Derrick Green, RB.

Named to the 1st team defense are Kyle Smith, DL; EJ Barnes, QB; Landon Curtis, RB and Duron Robinson.

2nd team defense positions went to JJ Jones, DL; Bubba Lobberecht, LB and Jeffery Boyce, DB.

Tigers receiving honorable mention include Tavo Sanchez, Will Lewis, Jake Stagner and Jarrod Mullins.
