Tigers Beat Top Teams,
Only To Fall At West

The Ardmore Tigers stopped Priceville and West Morgan last week before falling to West Limestone on the road last Thursday. The Bulldogs at Priceville fell to Ardmore 71-51 before Ardmore took a 63-62 triple overtime over West Morgan on Tuesday. On Thursday Ardmore dropped a 59-53 decision at West Limestone.

West Limestone 59, Ardmore 53

A come-from-behind bid by the Ardmore Tigers came up short at West Limestone last Thursday as the Wildcats won 59-53.

Trailing by 14, 43-29, going into the fourth quarter, Ardmore scored eight answered points to pull within three, 51-48. Matthew Clem’s 3-pointer came with 1:43 left.

Jordan Oles hit a pair of free throws for the Wildcats as Ardmore countered with a 2-pointer from Landon Curtis.

The remaining points came from the charity stripe.

Oles hit another free throw for the winners. James Vann Teeples scored the last Ardmore point at the free throw line with 29.2 seconds remaining. Cody Smith hit one free throw and Oles two more for the winners.

Zane Campbell took scoring honors for the Wildcats with 25 points as Cody Herring added nine and Darius Smith eight.

Matthew Clem led Ardmore with 21 points, a 3-pointer each quarter. Curtis scored six for the Tigers as Will Lewis and Feraas Al-Saba scored five points apiece. Duron Robinson and T. J. Duncan scored four points each as James Vann Teeples added three. Scoring two points each for the Tigers were Jake Stagner and JJ Jones.

Ardmore 63, West Morgan 62

James Vann Teeples hit a 2-pointer with 2.8 seconds left in the third overtime to give the Ardmore Tigers a 63-62 win over the visiting West Morgan Rebels.

In regulation play Feraas Al-Saba hit a 2-pointer with 12 seconds left to give Ardmore a 50-48 lead. With 2.3 seconds left Micah Randolph hit a pair of free throws to tie the score.

In the first overtime, Randolph’s field goal with 1:04 left gave the Rebels a 2-point lead. Matthew Clem scored for Ardmore with 1.7 seconds to send the game into the second overtime.

Clem’s free throw gave the Tigers the early lead in the second overtime. Randolph hit a pair of free throws to give the lead back to the Rebels. Al-Saba hit a 3-pointer for the Tigers. West Morgan tied the score with 37.9 seconds remaining when Grant Harbin scored his only field goal of the game.

Robinson began the third overtime with a 3-pointer. Phillip Powell hit two free throws to pull the Rebels within one, 59-58, with 2:08 left. Al-Saba hit a 2-pointer for the Tigers just before David Prichard and Harbin each hit a free throw. Randolph scored with 11.9 seconds left to give the lead. 62-61 back to the Rebels. Teeples’ shot came with 2.8 seconds left.

Robinson had 21 points for the winners while Teeples scored 12. Clem and Al-Saba had nine points each for Ardmore while Will Lewis and Jake Stagner each scored six.

Randolph had 27 points for the winners as Powell added 17.

Ardmore 71, Priceville 51

The Ardmore Tigers surprised the Priceville Bulldogs Monday night by handing them a 71-51 loss at home. The Bulldogs, ranked No. 7 in Class 4A, never led in the non-region contest.

The Tigers led by 10, 13-3, in the first quarter after a 2-pointer from Matthew Clem.

The Bulldogs pulled within three, 19-16, after scoring eight unanswered points. The Tigers led 28-28 before the Bulldogs scored the last seven points of that quarter.

Will Lewis scored five of his 16 points in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter. The Tigers produced 25 points that period after an 18 point third quarter.

The Bulldogs never led.

Clem led all scorers with 25 points for the Tigers as Lewis scored nine. Ardmore had six from Landon Curtis, five from Feraas Al-Saba. Jake Stagner added four while Jarrod Mullins, Ryan McMunn and TJ Duncan each scored two.

Josh Bedwell led Priceville with 20 points as Jacolby Reed scored 12 and K. C. Green 11.
