Lady Tigers Come Up Short
In Area Finals Play

Ardmore High School’s Softball Team defeated East Limestone on several occasions during the regular season, but things turned out differently in the Area Championship Game, played on Saturday at AHS. The game featured 5th Ranked Ardmore against the 7th Ranked Lady Indians.

When the dust settled in a competitive contest, the East Limestone emerged victorious by a score of 5-3. Earlier in the day, East Limestone defeated Ardmore 2-1 to advance to the final game.

East drew first blood in the second inning after a runner aboard scored on singles by Danielle Holder and Staci Johnson. East added another run in the third to go up 2-0.

Ardmore tied the game in the fifth inning and both teams plated runs in the sixth and headed into the seventh inning tied at 3-3.

The game remained knotted up through the seventh and eighth innings. In the ninth, when East managed to push across a pair of runs on a walk to Morgan Franks, a single by Carly Rhodes, a sacrifice by Kayla Sneed and another single by Lacee Doucette.

The Lady Tigers did not score again.

Aarika Boggs picked up a pair of singles to pace the Lady Tigers. Teammates Callie Steadman, Casey Steadman, and Callie Bryant also singled.

Staci Johnson led East with three singles.

Tuesday, East Limestone was scheduled to host Wilson in a sub-state contest. The Lady Tigers are slated to travel to Central Florence.
